Letter #16
Dear Jaemin,
I can still remember that day, that very special day.
It was two days before our graduation ball and I'm not even planning to go. It's not that I'm anti-social, but I have no one as a date.
And since it's an open gate celebration, my brother told me that he can be my date, but I declined his offer—well you see, Skai, my brother's girlfriend, is a year younger than him, just like me and she's also studying at the same school as we do.
She asked me personally if she can have Mark as her date—of course who am I to say no right? She's so kind to me all this time plus she's so sweet. She deserves to have my brother as a date—and ironically speaking here, they're couples.
Then after all those thinkings that I've done, I finally decided to just sleep in my room and not attend the ball. But then I received a text from you.
You asked me if I'm home that time, and after a bit of chitchats, you asked me to go outside.
Without hesitations, I went outside and found nothing. I felt disappointed actually, I thought you're going to visit me that day—but when I was about to close the door, I heard your voice.
You were singing while you're holding a huge banner with 'will you be my date to the prom? I know, what a lame proposal but please say YES' written unto it.
You're slowly walking towards my direction and I felt nothing but pure bliss at that time.
I can feel tears escaping my eyes as you looked at me with a huge smile plastered on your handsome face.
I took the banner from you—funny right? But I want it as a souvenir. You were so surprised that time and carefully asked me if that means that I declined your offer. It took me a minute to answer so your smile slowly faded.
Then I smiled. I nodded while saying 'yes, I'll be your date' continuously.
Then there was your smile again, just like the sun, brightening up my world.
Now I just wanted to know, is this finally the start of our story?
I hope the answer is, YES.
-Minji
