"Hey babe can you give me Mercedes number?" I asked Malik as he laid Mai across his lap. He pulled out his phone then quickly recited her number "6785238791". I put it in my phone and it rung a few time not to long before hearing her voice. "Hello"
"Hey it's Blessing, you doing anything today? I'm trying to meet up so that we can have a civilized conversation as two grown women"
"It's whatever, Malik supposed to be dropping off Mai at 4:00"
"I can do it, we can meet at Spelman."

I ran upstairs to get ready for my day. I'm tired of waisting my life on people and things that aren't trying to better me as a person. So I feel as though me and Mercedes need to have a talk about my role in Mai's life.
I went into my bathroom and started the shower. My doctor said this was fine for me to do so, because there was a waterproof bandage put over my incision. As long as I didn't submerge it in water, I'd be just fine.
After showering I lotioned up and got dressed. I got dressed in something casual. Since I was unable to work I was going to campus to see where my classes would be and to get my online information. I also was going to stop by Breyales to see if she needed any help with my nephew.
"Hey babe, I'm getting ready to go" I said grabbing Mai and my keys off of the ring. "I love y'all" he said kissing my lips and then Mai's forehead. "We love you too" I said walking out the door and to my car.
Malik's Pov
When Blessing left I ate me a bowl of cereal then ran upstairs to take a shower. I checked my phone before hoping in and responded to a couple messages then did what I needed to do.
After I got dressed, I texted Blessing that I was leaving the house and dipped to the trap. When I pulled up it wasn't to many cars outside. I went in dropped off what I needed to, got what I needed and started weighing it out.
"Whatsup Kil" Dex said walking into the lounge with a water bottle in his hand. "Ain't shit, you" I said while grabbing a baggie. "Same ole, same ole. You know that nigga Zaire came through here the other day looking for you." He said taking a seat. "Oh forreal? What for?" I asked not to much worry in my voice that nigga ain bout shit. "Ion know he told me to tell you when I see you to holla at him." He said sipping his water. "O igh"
Zaire is a whole punk. He claim he a blood, but he stay in our trap snitching on them niggas. Blessing father a crip, so that makes me one and it's been a few times that nigga done came in here telling us what was up and even riding out to show us where them niggas be.
It only take one phone call to get that nigga out the way so I ain't to worried. It got quiet for a minute then I got a phone call.
"Yerp"
"It's Kareem, Is this family dinner shit at y'all house tonight or my moms?"
"I thought it was at yours" I said with a chuckle.
"Well shit, my house dirty and I ain't got shit to cook so I'm about to call my moms and ask her what she cooked. See yall tonight"
"Bet that up."
After the phone call ended I counted what I had. I put what I needed in my bag and I took the rest too Blessing pops office and put it in the safe. I then dipped and went to make a few plays.

I pulled up to the college at 3:30. After getting the information I needed I went back to the car and waited for Mercedes to pull up.
When I seen her I got out and got Mai out. "So whatsup" she asked me while holding Mai on her hip. "Well I just wanted to let you know in person how I felt about the comment you had to post on my page this morning. I don't feel like I'm playing stepmommy to Maiari. I know my place and I know that you're her mother, so I wouldn't even try to take that from you. I can't take that from you, but what I do know is me and Mai have a relationship. As well as me and Malik, and I don't think it's right for us to disrespect each other with a young individual in the picture. I do know that Malik is going to be in my life which means Mai is going to be in my life. Regardless of if you like it or not. So with that being said we're going to either have to find a way to get along or to not fuck with each other at all. That wouldn't make sense though , because at the end of the day she is still going to be at our house 2weeks out of the month."
"I respect you for coming to me as a women and I apologize for the comment. I feel that we should be able to get along as well for the sake of my child. I don't want a vibe you have with me to rub off on her. So to prevent that your right. We should be able to be women when it comes to her." We hugged and then I got in my car and pulled off.
To be honest I didn't see it going like that, but I'm happy it did. Maiari has 2 car seats at our house and a car seat at her house. She has clothes at our house and clothes at her house. A bed at our house and a bed at hers. So she really ain't no better than nobody, but she is her mother.
