Chapter 33

Blessing's Pov     

          " You straight ?" Malik asked entering the living room with my prenatal gummy's  and a bottle of water. "Yes" I replied sitting up. I quickly took my iron pill and then a gummy. After I then passed him back the water bottle.

              "Do you have any names picked out?" Malik asked me breaking my concentration. "No.... I haven't thought about it  yet" He smirked and sat the water bottle down. "What's so funny?" I asked not taking my eyes off of him. "I have, but it's stupid" he said breaking eye contact. "Let me hear" I replied very interested in what he had to say.

         "Lesson" he whispered, it got extremely quiet as I replayed the name over and over again in my head. Petty I thought. "What made you choose that?" I asked while still thinking. "I learned a lesson" he said shrugging his shoulders. We both burst out laughing, I liked it, it was different. It had history behind the name. Back in middle school when me and him were together we had came up with it. It was a mix between Blessing and Lik. I laid back down and continued to watch GotdamnZo while Malik went to check on Maiari.

         He came back with her on his hip. "So what time is the appointment again?" He asked, it had seemed as though he was very excited and prepared. "Can't wait?" I asked with a smile appearing on my face. "Nah , I'm ready to see my baby" I grinned "10:00" I replied soon turning my focus back towards the television. I then began to fall into a deep slumber.

Malik Pov

         I went to get Mai prepared to see her new sibling. " Mai are you happy ?" I asked curious to how she'd feel about Blessing being pregnant. She quickly shook her head yes. "Baby" she clapped her hands. After I finished getting her dressed I put some coconut oil throughout her hair.

It was nearly 10 o'clock. The doctors office wasn't crowded, but I did get a lot of stares. I was the only Male in here. "How far along are you guys" the lady asked looking confused as to why we were here. "We're 4 months today" Blessing replied with a smile. "What do you want to have?" She asked again looking from me to her. " A girl" Blessing replied. She then congratulated us as we were being called back.

         The nurse guided us to a separate room as blessing went to get her blood pressure and stuff taken. It took about 15 minutes before Blessing returned. Sitting down she looked at me then quickly looked away. "What's wrong?" I asked while rubbing my beard. "I don't want to know the gender yet" she replied putting her face in her hands. This was all to much for her she hadn't expected to be in college and pregnant. 

           Nobody had knew neither just me and her. "Can we do like a gender reveal? We'll surprise everyone else" She replied, a smile reappearing on her face. "Whatever you want to do" I replied shrugging my shoulders.

           I love that she was so excited about this and not down. I haven't seen her this happy since I've proposed. "I love you Blessing" I said while kissing her lips softly. "I love you to" she said while pulling me closer.

Blessings Pov

       I called Breyale as we were being checked out. I haven't seen my family in so long and it felt awful that I was keeping secrets. Brandon's girlfriend was on bed rest and there would be so many things that we could talk about, but no one knew. My mother would soon be a grandmother of 3. It rung 2-3 times before she finally answered.

       It was Sunday and I haven't been to a Sunday dinner since everything happened. So tonight I was inviting everyone over for dinner at my house. No one knew that I'd be revealing my two surprises.

Hey sis, Sunday dinner is at my house tonight. I miss you all so much.

Cool I'll be there at 8.  How are you holding up in school.

It's going perfect. Talk to you more when you arrive kiss my nephew for me.

Okay... I love you Blessing.

        After I hung up and proceeded to call everyone else. Including Maliks mother Maia. Growing up the relationship that Malik and his mother had was beautiful to me. He treated her so lovingly after all of the things that had happened in his life. I hadn't seen her in a while and I felt as though she had the right to know that she would soon be a grandmother, again. This could be her chance to redeem herself so without him knowing I invited her.

      After checking out we buckled up and made our way to party city. It was 11 o'clock and we had a good amount of time to run to the store, cook, take showers and get dressed before our guests arrived. "How are you feeling?" Malik asked as he reached over to rub my belly. "Excited" I said with a smile on my face. "That's good , who's all coming?" He asked while not taking his eyes off of the road.

       "You know .. the usual.." I said turning to look out of the window. We stopped at a stop sign and he glanced over towards me. The light turned green and he continued to drive. "The usual ... being who?" He asked again this time as though he knew more then what I had told him. "Well....Brandon & sis in law , Bre , her dude & neph, Dad , Ma , Granny, Maia Miss..." "Who" he asked clenching the steering wheel. "Huh" I asked turning in my seat. "Blessing quit playing" he replied aggressively. "Your mom Malik" I replied in a duh tone. I was starting to get irritated, this was supposed to be a happy day. "When was you going to let me know?" He asked with a questionable look. "Malik do I have to let you know everything?" I replied while blowing my breath.

Maliks Pov

      "Practice what you preach B" I replied pulling into Party City. "Yeah whatever" she replied while opening her door. I got Mai out of her car seat and we made our way inside. I grabbed a cart and sat Mai in and just followed Blessing all around the store.

      "Babe what do you think we should do to reveal it ?" She asked while grabbing yellow silverware. "I don't know" I said while playing with Mai. "This is serious and you over there playing" she said with her hand on her hip. "Look all I know is we been in here going on 2 hours , are we done yet ?" I said looking into her eyes. "Act your age and not your shoe size" she replied while rolling her eyes. "Whatever"
