When Shane's brother was fourteen, he got ran over by a car on his way to school, leading him to being immobile for life and dying early at the age of fifteen because he was ashamed, he couldn't be like the other boys who played sports and lived normal lives, he jumped off the school building.
If that isn't a valid reason enough for Shane to hate school, then what is? The teachers, the homework, the bullies, the stupid relationships, the weird tyranny? Everything about Marrison High was bad and she hated that this was the only school that accepted her even after she applied in five others that were much better than this "crap-hell-school".
Shane trudged towards her school, pulling her red band choker again hoping that the elastic would just end up choking her literally in class. The wind blew causing her black dress to raise up, leading the boys who were grouped in the parking lot to whistle at her and call her names. Shane raised the finger at them and continued walking, wondering how much life would be different if her brother was here or if she killed herself.
Not really paying attention to the path, Shane bumped into someone causing her to drop her bag and the book she's been dying to read onto a small puddle of dirt. The person completely oblivious of what just happened kept walking obviously ignoring her, so as a result, she was angered.
"Didn't your mom teach you these things called manners?" Shane yelled out at the tall kid and tried best to retrieve her wet things.
The tall kid looked back and stared at her. His eyes widened once his tiny brain progressed who he bumped into and quickly walked back, grabbing the wet objects from Shane's hands and trying his best to dry them.
"What the f- are you doing?" She asked bewildered about this weird tall blonde boy that was literally blowing the book to dry.
"I'm so sorry- I wasn't paying attention, I'm sorry, forgive me, please-" The boy kept mumbling, shaking his head at himself and placed the still wet book inside his bag, "I'll buy you a new copy? I'm sorry ag-"
"Can you just shut the hell up because you're irritating me." Shane said, dusting off her leather red bag and continued walking towards hell, oh wait, she meant school.
The peculiar boy followed behind her silently, and Shane knew because his stupid vans kept making squeaking noises every time he walked. She grew irritated and turned around, making the boy stop abruptly causing the two to be face to face.
"What are you trying to do?" Shane asked exasperated that the boy kept bothering her. She had a good look of his face, and if she was a normal teenager then she would be thinking that he was attractive, but she wasn't. She was thinking of how blue his eyes were and how they resembled the ocean and how she could drown and die happy. She was also thinking of his metal lip piercing which set off his nerd appearance considering it didn't go well with the black rimmed glasses he wore.
"I''m sorry, I was just walking to class and I wante-" The boy started mumbling again till Shane simply turned away and walked towards the other direction leaving the blonde boy thinking of how close he was to the girl of his dreams.

If you asked Shane why she was off all day, she would probably punch you in the face and walk away, and everyone would take that as an answer but in reality her mind was filled with images of the blonde boy she ran across with earlier. No one has ever been that nice to her, not even her social worker, Ms. Wendy which she considered the closest thing she had to a friend. The blonde boy was really apologizing to her and was telling her that he'll replace her book.
Then, her thoughts wandered towards Michael Clifford who she was seeing next period. The though of him irked her all through lunch and caused her to lose her appetite because he was just that awful. As she started walking towards her class which was actually on the west wing, she passed by the water fountain, crouching down to drink and noticed that the same clumsy tall boy from earlier was next to the fountain retrieving belongings from his locker.
The boy saw her and accidentally shut his locker forgetting to remove his fingers as he registered the pain, a yelp came out from him as he pulled his hand away from the metal rectangle and shook it. Shane was laughing so much, she clutched her stomach in hopes to relieve the pain of finding the entire situation humorous.
The boy was watching the laughing girl who adjusted the red elastic she wore around her neck and smiled as well. He was in much pain but seeing a beautiful smile like that just made him happy.
"Let's get you to the nurse, bud." Shane said, calming down from her fit and pulling the boy towards the main hall.
