Bleak hate compelled the trailer to an icy silence.
"Well isn't this quite the reunion. Smashing day, isn't it Y/N?" Lila snarled.
"Y/N? Is that really you? Look how big you've grown." Your dad nonchalantly spoke.
You felt your heart beating hard in your chest, you tried to sit down, but it was more like a stumble that left you falling in a trembling heap into Jerome.
"You!?" Lila barked, eyes glued on you in her son's arms.
"Lila don't be hasty." You father muttered in her ear; his arms were still holding her with his hands in the most alarming of places.
"What is she doing here?" Lila hissed at J.
You interrupted before Jerome could speak, clenching your fists tight.
"Five years," You shouted, your orange-painted fingernails started digging into your palms. "You have been gone for five years. You walked out on me and my mother when I was twelve! And now you're back, tongue down the throat of the same b**ch that made you leave in the first place."
"How dare you!" Lila lunged at you. "Now, you better not go round telling people,"
"Don't you dare touch her!" Jerome yelled. He swiped his mother's ringed hand away before she could reach your neck.
"I said don't touch her!" He growled.
"Jerome! Don't make me hit you too--" She bellowed as she grabbed Jerome's arm instead.
"Let go of me, now. Now move!" Jerome kept his stance, eyes shut as he held his arms beside him, he put his arms around you, protecting you from the two in front as you clung to him. Your emotions went into overdrive; were you Sad? Surprised? Scared? Shocked?
Lila was livid. "Get out of my trailer!"
"Lets go Y/N," Jerome told you soothingly. He stirred you to the exit.
"How did I ever come to having a weedy little sh** of son like you." Lila called out.
You could see Jerome tense up, you clasped your hand in his. He threw open the door causing it to crash against the trailer wall as he fled the room.
You glanced back once more at the raging Lila and your more timid father, after all these years why would he come back now? You grabbed your coat and followed Jerome out, slamming the door behind you.
The sky was lit up with stars and there was streamers of fairy lights that lit up paths around the trailers. Your emotions were getting the better of you and in about seconds, you were beginning to cry.
"I'm sorry J,"
"Y/N, this is NOT your fault."
You disagreed.
"You shouldn't do that you know," He interfered, wiping the tears from your face.
"Do what?" You asked, peering up at him.
"Blame yourself. It's not good, not healthy, believe me."
"I know." You awkwardly muttered. The two of you entered a deep wave of awkward silence; J gazed down at your perfect eyes that sparkled like gems in the moonlight. It made him just want to hand you his heart, he smiled his signature grin at you.
"What do you say we go somewhere warmer to talk?"
The Big top is always open to acts who want to practice, it was the perfect place to hide away from the cold. The stage was mostly dark with a few stage lights brightening up certain parts of the ring and audience seating. You quietly tiptoed in, hoping not to disturb anyone as you entered.
