You were driven in a police car with Jerome and Em.

"Y/N that's the famous Jim Gordon." Em had whispered on the way to the police station. "Never fails a case, solved the murder of these two rich folks in an alley with no lead apart from a simple pearl necklace."

You gulped. You had helped Jerome. If he gets caught by this Jim Gordon, you too would be sent to the lock up or even worse the looney bin!

The entire circus was rounded up and drove to the police station. The building was old-fashioned and rowdy, swarming with police officers in blue uniforms. Everyone else stood out like fart in a church - like Jerome would say. All of you were still dressed in your shimmering circus outfit, some still bruised from the circus brawl.

The GCPD was cold and even though you were wearing Jerome's sweater, you found yourself shivering. You gripped tightly to J, trying your best to stay as calm as possible - You'd convinced yourself it was to calm him down but deep down you knew it was comforting for yourself more than him.

The two of you followed Jim Gordon to an office. An older cop with a white bushy beard walked over to greet him.

"Morning, partner." He brightened, giving him a nod with his hat.

"Gonna need a little help here." Jim told him as he carried on walking.

"No kidding." The bearded cop joked. "I mean, you're kidding, right? This isn't an elaborate prank or..?" He stopped when he caught eye of you and Jerome, tearstains still clear on J's face.

The interrogation room was fairly small. You sat in front of a small desk next to Jerome; his acting skills were what allowed you to be together during the interrogation, he'd burst out in tears from the mention of his mother and would only calm down if you comforted him.

Jim took a seat opposite J and you, with a relaxed yet serious look on his face. "Tell me about your mother, Jerome."

"She's my mother. What can I say? I love her. She's perfect." Jerome answered solemnly, "Not a very good cook, except for that."

You kept your mouth shut, eyes trailing back and fourth from Jim to Jerome as they spoke.

"Did she have any enemies? Someone with a grudge?"

"No."

"Boyfriends?"

Jerome shook his head. "No."

"No?"

"She had lovers." J explained, "They're sex partners really, but not boyfriends. She didn't want the commitment."

"Alphonse Grayson?" Jim uttered, listing the names of the artists he'd heard Lila had been seeing.

"Yes, he was one of them."

"Owen Lloyd?"

"Yes."

"Any others?"

You sucked in your breath, hoping he wouldn't mention your dad. You nudged him to keep quite and he taped you reassuringly on the knee, noticing you stiffen up.

"Not that I could put a name to." Jerome dismissed but Jim was persistent to find out more.

"How do you feel about your mother's love life?"

"I feel fine about it. If not for my mother's love life, I wouldn't be here, would I? Sex is a healthy human activity."

The answer was awkward, and both you and Officer Gordon found yourselves fidgeting in your chairs on how to react to Jerome's statement.

"Yes... it is." Gordon replied cloddishly. "Do you have any other family?"

Jerome hugged you close. "The circus is my family."

Jim smiled and nodded understandably. "Thank you Jerome, we will get to the bottom of this."

You felt your stomach churn at his words. Jerome lifted you up from your seat and smiled weakly at you, giving you the confidence to stand. Even with the rest of his expression humble and discreet to fool Jim Gordon, his eyes gleamed with delight; you'd both got away with killing Lila Valeska. Your faith slowly came back to you, it was all over.

Jerome headed out the door, you began to follow.

"Y/N," Jim called.

You stood your ground in fear and turned to face him, wedging the door open with your foot.

"You were pretty quiet during the interrogation," He pointed out. "Not much to contribute?"

You shifted away from the door awkwardly, it slammed shut behind you. "They were personal questions, better answered by the one who knew her most."

"How long have you known the Valeska's?" Jim queried.

"Ten years," You sceptically answered.

"And how close were you with Lila?"

"Okay, I spend more time with Jerome than I did with her."

"Where were you before last night's performance?"

"With Jerome." You said shortly. "We went to his trailer, straight after we'd come back to the library." - It wasn't fully a lie, you had been at his trailer after all.

Jim nodded. "Did she ever argue or have a disagreement with you - or anyone else from the circus?"

"Lila got on with all the circus folks, especially the men."

Jim Gordon carried on nodding, connecting all the information you'd just told him in his mind. You eyed him quizitively and gulped.

"You don't suspect me, do you sir?" You questioned.

Jim paused for a second before replying. "No. You can go now."

You shuffled out the room, not looking back once until you we safely out of sight. You stood on the balcony watching as the other stage artists were questioned. You could see the Sparkling Sprites, shaking their heads to every query and Mary and John arguing, again.

Jerome brushed his face against your own. "What did he say to you?" He asked, hugging you from behind.

"Nothing."

"You're a terrible liar."

"I'm a great liar," You opined.

"Ah," J pointed out. "But who taught you how to lie, hmm?"

You frowned as he stroked your cheek for you to stare up at him.

"So?"

"Well you're not a suspect anymore," You sighed.

"Obviously. I'm a great actor, not to toot my own horn but, toot, toot."

You eyed the police around you. "Aren't you scared to.. "

"... Who's their suspect doll? Are we going to find a Grayson or a Lloyd behind bars?"

"Neither." You groaned, sinking your head into his chest. " It's me, they think it was me."

J cursed under his breath. "Don't worry Y/N, I'll get Cicero on it, there's no way they'll find any evidence leading you to this. Don't worry dolly, J will sort it."
