↳donghyuck's pov.

Walking to the fancy restaurant I work at is the only way I can feel that I actually have money, a chance for me to feel like I actually own money. I only go to SM High because of my scholarship, and between working, school, and teaching Minhyuk so she can get a scholarship like I did, I have no time to go out like regular kids do. Working is the only way I can help Minhyuk get a better future. If I earn money for her and my medicine there's a chance that she doesn't grow up like I did, without parents or an actual diet.

"Donghyuck, you're late."

"I'm sorry Madame Yeol, I had an accident at school and I was really busy with my-"

"Save it, one more slip up and you're not working here anymore. Go put your uniform on."

I walked to the locker room and continued to tie up my apron and uniform. I grab my notebook and pen and try and get out the door.

"Donghyuck, take tables 5, 18 and 19 and because you came late you're stuck with the event table. Good luck."

My rat of a co-worker Sohee tossed me a bag filled with Menu cards and coupons. Not wanting to get fired I complied with the ordered and began my job.

"Welcome to International Restaurant of Esteemed Fine Dining, What will your meal be today?"

"Oh yes, we'll have the Lobster Supreme with extra dressing and the Chicken Salad with no carrot. To begin we would like a Caviar Plate with sides of bread."

"Of course Madame, your food will be ready in no time."

Rich people, huh? Ordering Caviar Platters and supreme foods makes me wonder, what would life be like if I never lost my family, if I had just tried hard enough to make everything perfect again.

"Donghyuck, I'll get started on table 5's order and head to table 18 and 19."

"Sure thing Sana."

After brushing through the large orders of the many customers or restaurant had to offer, I couldn't help but feel dizzy, something wasn't right. I brush past the feeling and continue to the last table. It was the event table of the night, the one in a private room, only for the richest of people.

"Welcome to the International Restaurant of Esteemed Fine Dinging. How may I be of service to you today?"

"Alright make it quick, we'll have your Supreme Platter to begin and Truffles for the main meal. Mark, what do you want."

Hearing that name made me look up from my notebook and look down to the boy staring me flat  in the eye. It was him, Mark.

"O-Oh um, can I get a salad?"

"Mark, we take you to a fancy restaurant and all you get is salad?"

Marks dad certainly was not the nicest, he seemed arrogant and like someone who thought he was better than everyone else.

"Is that all today?"

"When we get our meal bring us the dessert menu."

"Yes- sir."

I look back at Mark once more and carry off to the back kitchen and sit down on the employee table. I sit their and stare at my almost destroyed phone until I feel a headache start to form. The pain was sharp and strong, I felt as if I would fall.

"Donghyuck, table 5 wants the bill."

"On it."

I carry the leather casing with the bill to the table, the couple sitting idle.

"Here's your bill, take your time."

I step away for a moment and stand back at the front of the room in case I was needed for another offset task.

"Donghyuck, the event room wants their dessert menu now."

Swearing inside my bead I begin to pick up the menus and start walking to the private room that Mark was seated in. The sharpness of the headache still remains to pierce through my head and my legs begin to shake even more.

"Here is you dessert men-"

black.

"Donghyuck?"

"Donghyuck!"

"Donghyuck wake up!"

"Mark, you know this kid?"

"He goes to my school, dad."

"Don't touch him."

"He's my friend, I'll take him home."

"Mark, were in a company meeting. Our clients here don't want their future CEO touching some street kid."

"I'm taking him home in a cab and you aren't changing my mind."

"Lee Minhyung you get here right now or I'm suspending your horse privileges."

"It's fine, I didn't want them anyways."

"Minhyung get back here!"

"Nope."

Mark picked the unconscious boy up and put him on his back, the stares of customers piercing through them.

"Oh, sir I'm so sorry, he will be punished as of his next shift."

"Don't punish him, just give me his bags."

Madame Yeol hurried to the back room and grabbed donghyucks old bags and gave them to the rich boy in the lobby.

"You might wanna try not overworking your customers, hey?"

Mark snarled at the manager as he stepped out on the cold busy street. He hollered for a cab. He delicately placed the boy on the seat followed by his bags.

"Where to, sir."

"This address please."

Mark handed the cab driver a slip of paper Donghyuck had given him earlier in the day and he began to drive off. The soft noise of rain laced Mark's ears as he stared out the fogged windows as light peeked through the back.

"Donghyuck-Ah, why do you keep doing this?"
