"how's hyuck?" "he really isn't okay, I don't know why mark had to leave." "it wasn't his choice, you know his dad." the two boys were sitting in a study room, going over notes together for the beginning of the year test. "yes but, haechan has to get over him. he needs to move on." jisung said while flipping through his papers, still writing notes down, not looking up at chenle. "But it's hard for him, mark basically cured him. he's my best friend, I think I know what I'm talking about" chenle turned to jisung and jisung looked up from his papers, pausing. "Just give him time, he'll find someone new to be with. it's not that hard to find love." "Jisung do you know what you're talking about? You can't just fall in love all over again!" "But lele, if I found you anyone can find love." chenle now stood up from his chair, turning to yell at jisung "well if you're so sure about finding love, you can go ahead and look, I'm done." chenle stormed out the door, and jisung screamed as he kept running. "lele! please please don't go, I didn't mean it like that!" as chenle kept running, jisung sat back in his chair, slumping down. he felt warm tears rolling down his face. he pushed his head against the table, crying so hard the table developed small water stains. little did the two of them know, a boy listening in the other room would push them back together

three days later.

"chenle, stop crying, you'll be okay. jisung was just trying to help me, he didn't mean to hurt you.

"but he didn't hurt me! I hurt him! I just had to be an idiot and yell at him!"

"don't beat yourself up, I'm sure he's hurting too. it wasn't all your fault."

chenle was sitting under what they named 'the minhyung tree' after he left. he buried his head in his knees as his tears stained the patches on his pants. he had regrets, he didn't mean to yell at jisung. he was just frustrated, everyone gets frustrated sometimes. but he was scared. he thought that he would lose jisung. that some gorgeous young freshman would swoop in and steal away jisung. the thought of this made him cry harder, feeling himself shaking in the process. he looked down at his promise ring and fiddled with the charm hanging from the centre of his finger. he didn't feel right not holding jisung, whenever he felt like crying he'd ride his bike over to jisungs house and cuddle with him next to the fireplace. but this time was different. he didn't have the chance to ride his bike over, he couldn't cuddle up next to the fireplace. the young boy who had witnessed the fight earlier before was watching from a far near the now, not to secret exit to the area behind the school. he wrote down notes in his book and continued to the next boy.

"jisung, are you okay?"

jisung wasn't responding. he just laid down, face on the table, tears rolling down, silent. without chenle, he went back to being his old quiet self, who wouldn't dare speak a work or pull down the hood on his jumper. chenle was the one to bring him out of his comfort zone, the one to hold his hand a guide him through the rest of his life. but not being able to hold this hand jisung felt himself break down. "if you need help, I'm here." jeno tried to rest his hands on jisung's back, but he made a strong flinch movement and scared jeno away. "well, just stay here, I'll bring you something to eat. it looks like you haven't eaten in days." jeno left the boy to sit in the library pondering his life as the tears rolled down his face. he fiddled with his fingers under the table, lightly touching the ring placed on his finger. the charm that hung from it grazed his opposite hand, and he felt his heart skip a beat. he remembered all the times when him and chenle would run around the schools library and throw random books at each other, all while dodging the librarian who would give them detentions in a heartbeat. he loved when they tried to hide from her, hiding behind bookshelves while chenle held on to jisung tightly trying not to laugh. these were the fond memories that made their love more than just a high school relationship.
