Chapter 1:
'Ugh what now'. Was the best way to describe my thoughts as I sat in the principal office again but not really sure for what this time. Last week I was in the same chair for fighting a girl who called me a bitch just because she thought she had ''the right" to. Being sent home, you would think it was a blast but it wasn't. Spending time home was horrible only because I lived with a father who was never there and when he was we only spoke two words to one another.
"Miss Rose. Principal Flatt will see you now." The words spoken by the secretary drew me out of my thoughts. While sitting there I noticed she had a new hair style, one different from last week.
"Nice hair style." I commented as I walked passed her. She looked at me, whispered a 'thank you' then continued typing on the computer. Walking over to the door, I knocked easy, hoping that he didn't hear me so I could leave but then I heard his voice.
"Please enter Miss Rose."
I turned the cold metal handle and pushed the door open only to find Principal Flatt sitting in his chair, slightly leaning back making the chair rock. I pulled out one of the two chairs that sat in front of his desk. I put my arm on the arms rest and sat looking at him with curiosity.
"Miss Mirror Rose. How are you? Any news you would like to share before we begin our conversation." Principal Flatt looked like he was in his mid forties with deep gray eyes. His suit looked very cheap. A red and black tie with a white button up shirt covered with a brown jacket that matched his wrinkled pants. Hmm wondered what his shoes look like..
"Miss Rose. Are you paying attention?" His words spoke through my thoughts
"Uh.. oh um.. no. Same old boring life of a teenager. Home is home. And well you already know my school life." I replied with sarcasm behind the words.
"Right. So I called you down here today to speak with you about the rest of your senior year. As we both know, your behavior hasn't been pleasant and frankly no matter how many times we call home still no appearance made by your father." Principal Flatt continued.
My father was one of the wealthiest men in the state of Washington. He was a bad ass lawyer who focused on his job more than his own personal life.
Like his daughter.
"And how is that my fault?" I threw my hands in the air.
"Mirror... I was not saying it was your fault but consequences must still be enforced. The reason I called for this meeting is because you are not able to spend the rest of your senior year here at Seawood High. I received a letter that says you have a mandatory stay at a boarding school in um".. Principal Flatt started to scrimmage through the mess of papers on his desk. Then it hit me.
"BOARDING SCHOOL!" My voice seemed to echo throughout the office.
Principal Flatt looked up like he was smacked with a wooden bat.
"No.. no no no no". I repeated, shaking my head wildly.
"I will not go to boarding school. Is this some kind of sick joke? It's my last year here. My grades aren't board school material. I have an A average for every single class. Well except for English but we all have our weakness."
"I understand that Ms. Rose. And it is true. Your grades are excellent but that doesn't hide your behavior. The board thinks that boarding school will suit you better, and your father not showing up made matters worse." I didn't like Principal Flatt but I was on the edge of my seat about to beg to stay. Then a knock came to his door.
"Just a moment." Principal Flatt spoke to the unknown voice behide the door.
"Mirror I know its a sudden change but I think its for the best. I called your father and was surprised that he actually picked up the phone. I explained it to him and he said that's it's for the best as well."
