**Mirror Rose*
I tried opening my eyed but they wouldn't budge. It felt like my body wanted me to keep them closed.
All of a sudden, Im sitting on a bed covered with white sheets. The bed was very hard, small and long. I turned around and the sight in front of me made my eyes sting.
There I was, staring at myself laying in a bed. A bed now that I recognize as a hospital bed. IV's were in my arm that were connected to a machine that measured my heart rate and the oxygen level. A breathing tube was connected in my nose, a pump on the right of the bed moving up and down showing I was still breathing.
The room was lit by florescent lights that's made the walls even more white. A cross was above the bed hanging on the wall. It was the only decoration that occupied the wall.
A sniffle made me turn to my right and my heart leaped out my chest.
Luke! I was trying to scream but no sound came from my mouth. My body stood frozen, standing at the end of the bed.
He sat there, his head resting on our intertwined hands. When he lifted his head, his cheeks were stained with dried up tears. His jet black hair almost covered the crystal blue eyes that could capture a blind person attention.
Luke was so sad, the bags under his eyes told me he hasn't slept in days. Which made me wonder how long I've been out.
'Mirror,' his voice choked, he closed his eyes as a few tears escaped. 'You have to wake up. Okay. Wake up so you can come back to me.' Luke put his head back down but instead of resting it on our hands, he kissed the joined hands.
A tingle raced up my left hand as he did, even after he removed his lips I still felt it.
His body started to fade until it was just me standing there looking over my body. The lights in the room dimmed, a bright lightl caught my attention behind me.
People say when you see the light don't walk into it. But what if it drags you in and no matter how hard you try not to, you can't help to just go with it.
Before I could think of anything, images flashed throughout the bright light projecting memories of the past.
-The first was when I was 5 and my dad took me on the pony ride in the middle of the night. A smile wouldn't leave my face the entire time. I can still remember the chilly February weather and how the wind continued to blow my hood off my head.
It brought tears to my eyes as I reminisced the memory. I was daddy's little girl. He always promised me that I will always be his "#1" girl no matter how old I got.
-My mother was sitting at the piano, playing notes than stopping to write it down on her music sheet. She had on her blue off the shoulder sweater and a pair of dark jeans. her hair ran down her back in big curls. It was the first time I heard her play the piano, the melody mesmerized me. I ran up to her lap and that was when she first taught me how to play.
My mother was my idol. Everything I wanted to be when I grew up. I understand she messed up beyond belief and she isn't the same person. Seeing how her life turned out only makes me what to live a better life than her. To be a stronger woman and not walk awah from problems. To cherish those that love me and love them back with the same or more love.
I turned back around to look at my body that layed stiff in the bed. Walking over I touched my hand, ' Mirror wake up. There is people we have to get back too. You have too wake up now!'
My eyes slowly opened to a bright room. I had to close my eyes until I was ready to face the harsh light of the room. The room was bare. A. wooden chair sat in the corner, the cushion covered in green cloth with pink flowers. The window was closed, leaving the room darker than usual during the day time.
