Chapter28: Childish

*Jake Parkers*

"Jake ... you're such a creep."

Ethan jumps off the edge of the water fountain and crouches down beside me where I'm hidden behind a fake plant.

Staring into my binoculars, I toss Ethan a pair. "Shut up and keep a look out for Jackson and Jessica."

He frowns and stares at the binoculars. "But I don't know how to use these?"

I sigh in frustration. "Just look through them."

He places them on his face and his frown deepens. "It's all like ... blury! I can't see anything!"

I take the binoculars from him and shove my to him. "Take these and shut up."

Adjusting the binoculars, I look around for Jackson or Jessica. I have to figure what they're doing -why they're suddenly spending so much time together.

If I don't find out now, I may go crazy. Though Ethan already thinks I have. He assumes because I'm hiding behind a fake plant with a pair of binoculars that I've crossed the line into enteral insanity ... maybes he's right.

"Do you see anything?" I ask.

He glances my way. "You told me to be quiet so I am."

I roll my eyes at his childless. "Ethan seriously ...?"

"Seriously."

"Just tell me if you see anything." I huff.

"Apologize first and then maybe I will."

"I'm sorry, Ethan." I groan. I swear Ethan can be as childish as I. "Now can you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

When he sees the glare I send him, he smiled sheepishly and says, "No. Just a bunch of nobodies."

I sigh and begin to put my binoculars down when he suddenly says, "Wait! I see something! Ah, dude you gotta see this!"

"What, what is?"

"Dude, this chick isn't wearing a bra!" He chuckles and tries to adjust his binoculars. "Ah, man she's somethin'."

I roll my eyes and slouch down. That's when I see Jackson pointing at Ethan and I from across the mall.

Are we that noticeable?"

Jessica follows Jackson gaze and they suddenly make their way to us.

"Ethan!" I say grabbing his arm. "We gotta get outta here!"

He frowns. "Why? The girl forgot her shopping bag in the store and now she's running back to get it."

"I don't care. They caught us spying. Let's go!"

"Dude!" He cries. "She's running!"

I throw all of our supplies in the backpack I brought along and move to my feet. "Let's go."

"Must I say it again. She's wearing no bra and running!"

I roll my eyes and yank him to his feet. I finally get him to move and we rush out of the mall and almost make it out.

Before I can turn grab the door, something grabs my backpack and I'm yanked back.

Ethan hits the ground with force and yelps.
