Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Jemma sat in the corner of Skye's room, too upset, scared and sad to say anything. When she had come into her friend's room, Skye didn't say anything. She just climbed off of her bed, sat by Simmons and put an arm around her.

Skye's laptop lit up, and the screen filled with numbers.

"What's that for?" Simmons whispered.

"Something I was working on for Coulson. More on that Absorbing Man. But it's all codes."

"It's binary code." Simmons noted, and then her eyes lit up.

"Binary code! That's it!" She jumped up and Skye followed her, puzzled.

"What is it, Simmons?"

"It's a way to communicate! Fitz knows binary code, and so do you and I! We can help him remember!"

"Simmons, that's brilliant! We can leave him notes during visiting hours!" They hugged happily, and Simmons cracked a small smile.

"Maybe Doctor Elms will help. I hope she doesn't agree with the rules the Director set," Skye said, so Simmons nodded and headed off to Gillian's room.

Gillian was outside her room when Simmons came.

"Doctor Elms! Just the person I wanted to see!" Gillian kept her back turned and tried to walk away, but Simmons stopped her.

"Please, I just want to talk to you about something important."

"Why? Shouldn't you be upset with me? Why do you still trust me? I let this all happen, and you still want to talk to me. Why?"

"Because I knew you never wanted this all to happen. It's not your fault." Simmons continued, sharing the details of what Skye and her had come up with. Gillian was hesitant, but said yes after a lot of persuasion.

"Thank you so much!"

"No problem, Jemma. I know how much you two matter to each other." She smiled and went into the Med Ward.

Although there was still hurt in her, Jemma had gained some happiness back.

Maybe she hadn't lost.
