Chapter Seventeen
Fitz's P.O.V.
I woke up for a while after Simmons left, hoping that she had come back overnight. But every time I asked the doctor, she said sadly that no, she had not.
The woman named Skye sat in my room a lot. I asked her why, and she told me I looked lonely. I thought she probably missed Simmons too.
Skye also helped me when the doctor insisted that I get out of bed. Walking was hard at first. I stumbled a lot, and nearly fell down too many times to count, but I got it down eventually. I wished Simmons were there to see it.
New people began to arrive at the safe house. A group of three arrived; I think
their names were Lance, Isabelle and Idaho. Simmons would like the guy named Mack.
Time to time, I hallucinated. I saw Simmons. Sometimes I talked to her, but sometimes I just let her stand there. I knew she wasn't real, but I couldn't stop hallucinating.
Thinking so much about Simmons started to pull bits and pieces of memories out about her from the still blurry past. I started to understand why I felt a small feeling of anger whenever I saw Triplett, who was hobbling around on crutches.
I remembered when a man named Ward put us underwater. It's how I ended up in a hospital bed - the accident, as Simmons had put it. I saw her face, and I remembered what I had said.
Yeah, you're more than that.
But I realized something. She'd never said something like that back to me. Simmons had said 'Oh, Fitz..', kissed my forehead and sobbed, but she had never said anything back.
Did she even feel the same way? Or was I just a friend?
It just started as a thought, but it stuck itself in my head, and I just accepted it.
So when Director Coulson came by and told me Simmons was on a mission, I knew he was telling the truth. But I also
knew another reason why she was gone.
She didn't feel the same way I felt about her.
( Do you feel the feels yet? Guess what!
THERE'S
MORE
TO
COME.
I decided to continue this story after being given more material to work with in the last episode. I hope you like it!)
