Chapter 25 One Day at a Time

The other day Steven and I set a day he could see (s/d/n). We decided to go to the mall. I was getting ready while Jared fed (s/d/n) some lunch. I picked out my outfit.

Once I got dressed I headed downstairs and went into the kitchen. Jared sat at the table eating his own lunch. (S/D/N) was munching on her/his food happily. I sat down next to Jared letting out a sigh,"You know of he tries anything you let me know and I'll deal with him." He says I look over at him and slightly laugh,"Don't worry I can handle myself." I reply he looked at me with a small smile," I know but still. Let me know if he does anything." He says I smile and shake my head,"Alright." I say, I got up and went to go grab (S/D/N)'s stroller from the living room and brought the stroller to the kitchen,"Hey I'm gonna put this in the car." I called out to Jared as I walked by. I grabbed my car keys and walked outside to my car. I unlocked my car and opened the back door. I placed the stroller inside the car, once I was done I shut the door and locked my car. I turned around and bumped into someone,"Oh I'm sorry- oh hey Alana! What are you doing here?" I asked seeing Alana adjust her glasses. She smiled at me with a slight blush on her cheeks,"Oh don't worry about it. But umm I was wondering if Jared was here?" She asked nervously I smiled at her,"Yeah he's here. Is that why your dressed up?" I ask jokingly as I saw her cute little black dress with red roses on it. Her light blue denim jacket over her shoulders, she was also wearing cute blue flats, her hair was in a cute high ponytail,"Oh no I was just umm this is my casual wear." She stuttered out her words I giggled," Don't worry I won't tell anyone. Plus you guys are cute together." I said she smiled at me we both walked inside the house. Once we got inside Jared perked up his head and had the biggest smile on his face once he saw Alana. (S/D/N) walked towards me and hugged me. I picked her/him up and decided it was time to leave. I said bye to everyone and headed to the mall.~○~
Steve and I were walking around the mall going into certain stores,"So how have things been going?" He asked as we waited in line for a pretzel,"Its going well. How about you? How are things holding up?" I asked he fixes the hat on his head and put his hands in his front Jean pockets. With a shrug he finally replies saying,"Things are alright...my grandmas actually in the hospital..." he replies a bit sadly I gave him a concerned look,"I'm sorry to hear that I hope she gets better." I say as I place my hand on his shoulder,"Its alright I know she's strong." He says with a smile I smile back at him,"I know she'll get through it. Like you said she's strong." I replied  I removed my hand off his shoulder. The line moved up and it was our turn to order what we wanted. Once our food was ready we started to walk again. I gave (S/D/N) her/his pretzel bites. Steven and I found a place to sit down for a while,"So I do have a question that's been bothering me. And I feel like its something important." He says as he looked straight at me I nodded for him to continue,"What are we gonna do? Like when (s/d/n) gets older will you tell her/him that I'm their actual dad?" He asked.
"To be honest I'm not sure. It all depends on how long this will last. On how long you'll stay in (s/d/n)'s life. How long I'll be with Connor. I'm not to sure. I think we should just let things play out." I answer truthfully he nods at my answer. I can tell he wants to ask something else,"What is it?" I asked he looked at me with an unreadable look,"Do you think it's a good idea to be in (s/d/n)'s life again? Like I feel like if she/he already has father figure in his/her life... I feel like I'm not really needed to be around. If Connor stays with for as long he is willing to I dont think theres a need for me to be around." He says with hurt and sadness in his voice. I saw all the hurt from his body posture and his facial expression. He deserves to be around no matter what. He can have another chance to start over even if (s/d/n) doesn't know that's her/his dad,"Look Steven I know where your coming from. But you deserve to have another chance to start over with your child. Because what your parents did was wrong it was out of your hands. If it weren't for your parents actions we wouldn't be in this position." I answered truthfully he nodded. He smiled at me,"Thank you for letting me be in their life again. I love you both so much. I know you having feelings for Connor and I'm happy for you. I just want you to know that I still care and love you."He said I gave him a small smile,"Thank you as well for letting me be with Connor and accepting my decisions." I smile he smiled as well and nodded,"No problem I'm here for you."
