So I had an idea to combine the awful events of the Holocaust with science fiction, and this was the product.
I hope you enjoy it!

Holocaust II
Imagine the Holocaust. Imagine Auschwitz. Imagine the German guards. Imagine the Jews in the camp. Imagine them being ripped free of their rights, their freedom. Imagine the Germans not even considering the Jews human.
Now imagine the Jews having special powers. Imagine them fighting back. Imagine them escaping.
My name is Amethyst Rogers, I am gifted with telekinesis and this is my story.
My father always said that we study the past so that we can avoid repeating history. But when the human race discovered there were humans with powers living among them, they didn’t hesitate in replicating the Holocaust.
They built massive prisons and gathered us up like dogs, snapping collars around our necks to stop us from being able to use our powers. They were scared of us, terrified that we would overthrow them, but the truth was that there weren’t enough of us to overpower the humans even if we wanted to. Besides, we had lived with them side-by-side co-existing peacefully until one of us turned mad.
He supported the minority of us that wanted to tell the humans, so he started showing his power off in public. He was super strong and before long the police were tracking him down. He killed one of them accidentally whilst trying to escape so they locked him up. But of course it was too late, by then people were beginning to get afraid, they called us witches and they demanded that the government do something.
So they built the prisons (which were just a holding facility until the witch’s execution). The government started offering rewards to people who tipped the police off...but they also started threatening families who protected loved ones who were ‘witches’.
Scientists tried to find a gene in our DNA that meant we had powers, but our chromosomes were no different from an ordinary human’s. The ‘disease’ wasn’t inherited they concluded, when it became obvious that one child developed powers when neither the parents nor the siblings nor the grandparents had any. Some thought that perhaps there was some chemical in the atmosphere that was mutating foetus’ DNA, that would mean that there would be more of a pattern to those who developed powers but there wasn’t, it appeared random. They tested a lot of theories for many years: the kind of medication people took, the kind of pathogens that people had if they’d recently been ill, the water that people drank, the food that people ate, the countries that people had visited on holiday, etc.
A few people from some religions thought it was proof that God existed because it was like a miracle had been bestowed upon people. Mostly, religious people just thought that we worked for the Devil and so we were cursed.
Soon you didn’t know who you could trust and who you couldn’t. Families turned against each other, parents who had children with powers started treating them like dirt, like they were a disgrace to the family name.
However, that was a hundred years ago...except nothing’s changed.
My mother and father hated me, thought I had tainted their ‘perfect’ bloodline because our family had never had any ‘witches’ before. So I ran away before they had a chance to report me. I managed to go undetected for six months before I was caught in a bed and breakfast. I was then taken to a maximum security prison for witches. I was fitted with a metal collar that felt like a tonne weight on my shoulders and neck. A small red light flashed every ten seconds on the collar (presumably to let the guards know that it was turned on and working properly) that was so bright I could see it through my closed eyelids.
