"No, we need to get back to the pack first." He said moving away from my hand. I took a deep breath to steady my breathing and to ease some tightness in my chest.
"We have to get it out of you now, the packs too far away for us to walk." I said looking at the knife.
"I have time it's not going to kill me yet." He said, in a low voice.
"Eric, I'm not letting you die because of your stubbornness, now let me take it out!" I said reaching for the knife. He rolled away from me; hitting his injured shoulder slightly against a tree. He hissed under his breath and quickly moved away from it. He looked up at me and sighed.
"Fine, please be gentle though." He said as I moved closer to him. I ripped his shirt off from around the wound. When I saw his skin my mouth popped open; it was black brittle and bleeding.
"Ouch," I whispered under my breath. I looked at Eric and saw he had his jaw clenched and his eyes squeezed tightly closed. I wrapped my hand around the handle of the knife and started to pull it out slowly. I felt the knife slide out completely after a second.
"I got it out, doesn't that feel better?" I asked him looking his back which started to heal as soon as the knife came out.
"much." He said sighing in relief. The wound was oozing blood and the dead brittle skin started to crack.
"Uh, Eric, what do I do now?" still staring at his back.
"Now we need to get back to the pack, can you change back into a wolf?" he asked looking at me over his shoulder.
"But what do we do with him." I said jerking my thumb over my shoulder to point out the corpse behind me. Eric turned all the way around and looked at were my thumb was pointing.
"Who?" he said with a puzzled look on his face, still searching behind me for the body. I turned as fast as possible and saw no body, only blood on the ground. My mouth dropped open and my eyes bulged; where'd the hell he go??!!
"HE WAS THERE TWO SECONDS AGO!! I KILLED HIM!! WHERE IS HE!!?" I screamed standing up, and looking around; causing my joints to pop painfully.
"We need to get back to the pack now Allie." Eric said in a very stern voice behind me. I turned to look at him; he was trying to stand up by leaning against a tree.
"Which way is the pack?" I asked not sure.
"That way." He said pointing his finger to the left "it would be quicker to change into wolves but if you-"I cut him off.
"No I can change into a wolf lets go." I said getting down on all fours and starting my change, my wolf howling in excitement. When the change was over my legs felt weak and wobbly; I don't think I'll ever get used to that much pain. I looked over to where Eric was and found a very large black wolf with golden eyes with just a little brown around the edges.
"This way." Eric said to me trotting in the opposite direction.
"I heard you!!! In my head! That's possible? WOW!!" I said back.
"Yeah, ha-ha you are such a dork Allie." He said chuckling slightly.
"Yep, but I'm your dork so ha back at ya." I said rolling my eyes and following him.
"Allie, have you heard you're...um, wolf yet?" he asked looking at me from the corner of his eye, nervously.
"ye-"'DON'T TELL HIM!!' my wolf growled at me. 'Why not!! I don't like keeping secrets from him!'
"Allie what were you saying?" Eric asked again still running in the direction of the pack. 'you just can't!' she said sadly. 'why can't I want to tell him?' she didn't answer my question. 'if you don't tell me why I will tell him about you.' I said threatening her. She didn't answer.
