Chapter 12: The Performance

Chp 12

I froze and just stood there. Is this the real reason he left me? I realized that The Swan was just like my life right now.

Harry didn't smile when she kissed him. Why did he have to be so confusing?

I backed up slowly, trying to be quiet.

I tripped over a root of the tree, and fell on my back.

I opened my eyes to see Ashley and Harry standing over me.

I got up, "Things to do, huh?" I looked at Harry tears escaping my eyes as I ran home.

I was so mad at Harry, but for some strange reason I could never hate him. I always wanted to forgive him. I remembered how he helped me through everything, he just listened. He didn't treat me differently when I told him I was an orphan.

I looked over to the wall that had pictures of us making silly faces. I smiled and years came again. Under all of the silly pictures was a picture of Harry and Lilly. She had fallen asleep in his lap and he had fallen asleep as well. Love like Lilly.....the words came to mind. Why should it matter if he loved Ashley? I loved him! I wasn't going to sit here and cry! No! I was going to tell him how I felt!

At the performance, I would tell him. The white swan got the prince in the end. She didn't let the black swan have him and then cry about it.

I was going to get my prince back!

AT THE PERFORMANCE

I watched as Harry and Ashley, held hands. I was waiting for the right moment to tell him. We watched as the crowd filled the seats around the stage. I didn't know if I was more nervous about dancing or talking to Harry.

Miss Toplin came on stage and announed the start.

While she was speaking, Ashley turned to Harry.

"Harry, I need to tell you something......the truth is....I don't really love you.....you are really not my type.....sorry." she smiled at him and then turned to me. She gave me a 'told you so' look.

I starred in amazement. He looked at her. He looked really hurt. He looked at me, the corners of his mouth slightly turned up. Wait....he doesn't really love her.

"I was thinking the same thing, Ashley....sorry" he smiled back at her, mockingly.

Her mouth dropped open. She crossed her arms.

He smiled at me.

It was time to go on stage now.

We started dancing. This time, he had so much emotion. We danced so freely. He spun me around, my feet twirling around stage. The scene was so beautiful, faces watching intently.

Then Ashley had to come on and dance around me. She threw me to the ground, I watched as they danced. They danced really well together.

Then I went and Ashley started dancing around me, I danced around her.

Finally I knocked her to the ground, abd started dancing with Harry again.

We danced, that was when I was supposed to be a human. Other dancers came out with white silky fabric. They wrapped it around me. I threw of my wings and beak, and left them as the white fabric covered them as it fell to the ground.

I ran to Harry, he lifted me up over his head.

We froze.

People started clapping. They started standing up. Lilly would have loved this.

The lights went out and we ran off stage.

"Mia, follow me." Harry said, grabbing my hand. I felt a wave of comfort come over me.

We ran to the park, still in costume. It was dark now.

We ran under the tree.

"Mia, I..." he started. I put my finger on his lips.

"Let me talk..." this was the right moment.

"Harry, I just want to say...that I still love you.....I forgive you. Like you said Love like Lilly, Lilly wouldn't want me to stay mad at you. The many times I tried to be mad....I couldn't."

Then, he spoke. "Mia, I never wanted to leave you....it killed me. I tried every day to forget about you, I couldn't. I started to spend time with Ashley so that I could get my mind off of you. It didn't work....I still am in love with you....I could never forget about that." he looked at me.

Tears if joy came to my eyes.

Suddenly, I leaned forward.

He kissed me, wrapping his arms around me.

I hugged him so tight. I would never let him go.....ever
