Chapter XII

Law was on the floor, hands on his head and his eyes wide. Luffy was confused since everyone was quiet.

"What's going on?" He asked and Shanks hushed him.

"Not now, Lu." He replied and Luffy kept quiet. He could faintly hear breathing, heavy breathing. Was that Law?

Law then tried to stand up again, he was wobbly, but managed. Hand pulling at his own hair.

"I have to excuse myself for a bit." He mumbled and slowly walked to his room and locked himself inside. Everyone stared at his door until Aki sighed.

"Let's leave him be. Shanks- san, will you be taking Luffy- kun back home?" She suddenly asked and Shanks said he wanted to, but it might not be the best if Luffy was still hurt.

"If he stays here, is it okay if me and some others come to visit from time to time?" Shanks then asked and Aki smiled and nodded. Luffy didn't listen to their conversation though, he had his blind eyes staring at where he thought Law went.

"all I want is to be able to see again..." Luffy mumbled and Shanks glanced at him and hugged him again before letting him down on the floor, but Luffy fell down fast, sitting on the floor.

"WHOA!" Shanks, Sanji and Zoro exclaimed when Luffy just fell. "You okay?" Zoro then asked and Luffy shrugged. His face was expressionless again. Empty of emotions.

"Should I call Law back?" Law's dad asked and the rest didn't know.

"Don't. If he wants to be alone it's better to let him be until he comes out himself." Luffy said and Sanji and Zoro smiled. Everyone agreed to it. Then Lami presented the plastic bag she held in her small hands and asked if they could eat the desserts now.

"We can save one for Onii- chan." She continued and so they started to eat. Luffy just sat on the couch in silence though, and had Sanji forcibly feed him some spoons of the small cake.

"Don't waste food. You love to eat!" Sanji said and Luffy nodded. He just wasn't feeling well. Something inside him was freezing.

Law was in his room, on his bed. It was dark. Law's heavy breaths weren't over. The fire kept playing in his head, like before when he and Sanji were in the house.

'Finally. You can hear me, can't you?'

"Who are you...?" Law asked into the darkness. His body was hot, like he was way too close to the flames.

'PFFFT, HAHAHAHAHAH I'M YOU! The you who you've been trying to hide from for 16 years!'

"What? I haven't been trying to hide you, I've never even known you were there!" Law spat out as he gripped his arms and hugged himself. He felt like his body was engulfed in flames now, everything hurt. "Stop burning me..." Law whispered out and the voice cackled once again.

'What? You dare say that now? Are you fucking joking?! If you are this forgetful then you deserve it! HYAHAHAH-'

Then the heat suddenly stopped, so did the voice. Mid laugh it just stopped.

Law fell forward towards the floor, head first. Until an ice cold hand stopped him. Law didn't know who it was since his door was still locked and his vision had gotten blurry. But it felt nice.

The unknown person had a cold aura around them. Almost menacing in a way.They seemed strong from how they moved and caught Law without faltering. Law couldn't concentrate as well as he wanted and his sight got blurry as he'd fainted from the heat he'd felt combined with the ice cold hand that was on him. A cold, monotone voice broke the silence before Law succumbed to the darkness completely.

'Don't go to him tonight.'

Law woke up 20 minutes later. He was alone on the floor. It was silent in his room and mind. Law decided to walk outside of his room. Everyone was still there except Luffy.

"Where is he?" Law asked and Sanji told him they put Luffy in the infirmary since he wasn't feeling well. "Can I tend to him a little?" Law asked and his mother said no.

"I think it's better to let him be. Law, you've been with him since you found him around a week ago. Let him be alone for a little while, at least an hour. Please?" Aki asked and Law wanted to object, but didn't.

"Fine." He replied instead. Lami then walked up to him and hugged his leg and then showed him the chocolate flower dessert they'd saved for him.

"It's yours!" She exclaimed happily and Law picked her up and walked to sit on the couch. He put her in his lap and she cuddled close to him. Shanks and Law's parents talked and laughed. Zoro and Sanji bickered with each other and Lami had fallen asleep on Law's lap. Law was quiet and thought to himself.

He was scared. He knew that feeling all too well. But that voice... Was it just a dream? It must've been. No way in hell Law could hear a different voice in his head!

"it was a dream, wasn't it..." Law mumbled out but no one heard him, luckily.
