Broken- Lawlu {editing/ hiatus}

Chapter VIII

"CAPTAIN, YOU NEED TO SEE THIS SHIT!" Shachi roared as he slammed the infirmary's door open. It was afternoon and Luffy was supposed to sleep, but Shachi scared the living daylights out of the teen. Now he didn't want to sleep.

"See what?" Law asked, clearly pissed at his friend. Shachi didn't care how much Law glared at him, but shoved a newspaper in his captain's face.

"You almost never read the fucking news so here, you have to see this!" Shachi said and Law took the paper and almost dropped it immediately. Blood covered guts and limbs were on a picture. They looked kinda burnt as well. Faces of all those dead people looked terrified. But their bodies were right outside of the mansion they found Luffy and those other kids in.

"What the fu-..." Law mumbled as he stared at the picture with shocked filled eyes.

Luffy was confused, so he just quietly listened. He didn't know how to react to any of this right now. Was he supposed to be worried, scared or happy? He couldn't tell. Law glanced over to the confused and blind teen, sighed out slowly and looked back at the picture.

"Don't worry. It's nothing special." Law lied and Luffy bit his lip.

"... ok." Luffy mumbled out and started to play around with his long hair. Law told him he and Shachi had to talk about something important, and left the confused teen in the room. After a while, he heard noises. Familiar noises. Like someone besides him was in the room, but only Law and Shachi were home. Suddenly a cold breeze covered the room.

'He's gonna leave us forever, you know. Like everyone else.'

"... Really?" Luffy asked, into a lonely and cold room, clutching his hands.

'Yeah. Like everyone else.'

"Hasn't Corazon told you? He should know." Shachi asked and Law shrugged.

"Hasn't said shit to me at least." He responded, still looking at the picture. He felt sick looking at their burnt, terrified faces.

"Dude, why are you still looking at it? It's really sad and disgusting." Penguin asked from the couch as he had been there the whole time. He was watching TV and wasn't in the room with Luffy.

"Shut up, I just wanna see if there are any types of like, clues..." Law mumbled out and Shachi raised his brow.

"Clues to what? How they were killed?"

"I guess." Law answered and soon threw the paper away. "I feel sick." He said to them and they told him the obvious; "It's probably 'cause you looked at that picture for too long. Or the fact that you haven't slept well, like usual." Law hummed at their comments. The three suddenly heard a loud thud and were all equally confused.

"Was that from Luffy's room?" Shachi asked and Penguin felt like it might have been, They went over to Luffy's room and when they opened the door they all got a chill down their spines. The room was cold like a freezer and Luffy had fallen down onto the floor. That explains the thud.

"Holy fuck it's cold!" Shachi and Penguin both said as they hugged themselves for warmth. Law walked in and picked up Luffy and the younger's skin was a very pale blue. Law walked out from the room and put Luffy on the couch with blankets and pillows to keep him warm. Luffy had fainted.

"We've only been out for about 20 minutes and all windows in that room are closed. And it's summer??? How did the room get frozen like that?" Penguin asked and both Shachi and Law shrugged.

"Assassination?" Shachi asked and the other two raised their eyebrows in a questioning look.

"Ok, then how the fuck did they know Luffy was there? And why the cold? Why not shoot him right then and there and flee the scene?" Law asked and Shachi just said it could be a possibility and Law sighed out loud.

"Your family will be back soon, maybe they can help?" Penguin suggested and Law answered 'yeah'. "And we can't ask Sanji and Zoro now can we? I heard they both are getting shit and their asses kicked for leaving and not saying anything." Penguin continued. Shachi laughed and Law huffed a laugh too.

"I wanna see them having their asses kicked though. Imagine! The two demons in school, the strongest! And they're being beaten by their families!" Shachi said and made funny movements with his arms and the three laughed out loud at the thought.

"We'll call them another day then. Now we have to take care of him. Penguin, can you make some tea? Shachi, bring a warm towel." Law said and the two left. Shachi came back first and they put the towel on Luffy's forehead. Later Penguin came back with a cup of tea and Law woke Luffy up. Eyes still pale blue. Sadly. He was told to drink the tea and he did, he slowly regained color again. And with his raspy, sad voice, Luffy asked out into his own darkness.

"... What happened?"

Luffy sat on the couch, in disbelief. The Hearts explained what had happened and Luffy doesn't remember a thing.

"All I remember... Is you leaving the room." He told them and they all looked worryingly at him. Law's family had come home now and they all listened to the story in great shock.

"Did you maybe dream something that you can remember, Luffy- kun?" Law's dad asked and Luffy closed his eyes and tried to think of something. After a while he opened his eyes again.

"I- maybe? I can remember burning faces and bodies. Outside a house. But I haven't been there." He explained and The Hearts' eyes widened.

"The news." They said lowly and Law's family quickly grabbed the paper and they all looked at the picture with jaws open. Law's mom sent Lami up to her room as this was something she didn't have to see.

"How can he remember something he hasn't seen? That's impossible!" Law's mother exclaimed.

The family talked the whole afternoon with Luffy. When it got late he was put inside the infirmary again, they had put a heater in there so the accident wouldn't happen again. Luffy was awake until 00:00 and he had then noticed something strange.
