Shadow didn't leave Sonic's house until late at night when the stars shined and the full moon illuminated the dark blue sky.

And even with the dark hedgehog gone, it still felt like he was there. Sonic stayed up curled up in the sofa inside the dark living room with a blanket texting Shadow all night, the only light being his phone lighting up his face and the moonlight coming from the slightly open curtains.

Tails stated over at Knuckles's so he was out of quills for a while.

The two distant hedgehogs got into the conversation of favorite movies and sonic chuckled at shadow's response. The clock currently read 1am. Sonic was having too much fun talking with shadow to even care about time.

Sonic: Is shrek 2 seriously your favorite movie?

Shadow💕: Of course! It's a theatrical masterpiece.

Sonic: What're you 5?

Shadow💕: At least i didn't pick some yucky romantic shit. Twilight? Seriously Sonic, what're you fuckin gay?

Sonic: The plot was good. It made me cry. And no I'm not gay.

Sonic sent that message giggling to himself like some 12 year old girl and he noticed how it took Shadow a while to reply. After reading the message, he figured out why.

Shadow💕: Sonic, all memes and jokes aside. What are your opinion on gay people?

Sonic read the message three times and inhaled through his nose. No one had ever asked him these things, he never knew how to feel about them. So, he tried to be as truthful as possible typing out a message to answer Shadow's question.

Sonic: Not gonna lie, but i don't mind them. I believe god loves all people equally. I do find them a little weird though but they're okay, just let them do their own thing you know.

Sonic sent the message after reading it too many times to where he could memorize it like a prayer. Almost instantly he got a reply.

Shadow💕: Isn't being gay a sin or some shit. Isn't it against God's little set of rules tho?

Sonic: Well yes but they're not hurting anyone besides themselves.

Shadow💕: What if i told you i was gay.

Sonic gasped after reading that. He almost dropped his phone but he had to reply. Was Shadow kidding?

Sonic: Is that true?

Shadow💕: Yes. You hate me don't you.

Sonic: Shadow, i don't hate you. You're a good person I'm not going to leave you just because you like boys and you're different from me. If that were the case i would of stopped talking to you because you're atheist.

Shadow💕: Oh good. I don't want you to cut all ties with me Sonic. I love you too much.

Sonic smiled at that finding it wholesome and making something inside him spark.

Sonic: I love you too Shadow. You're a good friend. I'm lucky to have known you.

Shadow💕: Sonic, do you have any idea what I'm talking about?

Sonic: What?

Shadow💕: I love you and not in a friendly way. You're the reason why I'm gay. You fucking turned me gay! I hate that I love you out of all people! Can't you just get into your little fucking head that maybe all this god shit isn't real?! I just wanna bend you over and fucking show you your place you little fucking sinner. I know there's some gay in you Sonic, I've noticed it.

Sonic's eyes widened after reading that and his face felt hot. He threw the blanket off him. Was it the blanket? It had to be! God, let it be the fucking heat in here. He threw his phone on his lap and buried his blushing face into his hands. Truth be told, Shadow had been making him feel weird. He was always happy around him and he always thought about him a lot, but he brushed it off thinking it was just his expanded friendship
but it all made sense now. He was fucking gay. Oh no.

His phone screen went to sleep after being off it for 5 minutes of questioning his sanity. He turned it on and saw the message was gone. Shadow probably deleted it out of regret.

Shadow💕: never mind

Sonic sighed not wanting to talk anymore. Maybe if he pretended none of this happened it wouldn't be so awkward.

Sonic: it's late. I'm going to bed.

Shadow💕: You didn't read my deleted message, right?

Sonic: no

Shadow💕: okay. Goodnight.

Sonic: sure.

Sonic threw the device onto the ground not caring if it broke. He heard it vibrate 3 times probably from messages but he didn't care. He fell into the couch burying his face onto a cushion with the blanket now over him. What the heck just happened?

Sonic wasn't gay. He had a kid. He had sex with his now ex-wife. But, shadow made him feel so many things. It was unbelievable one boy had the capability to make him feel like that. He tried falling asleep but Shadow's words haunted him "you turned me gay... I love you... I wanna show you your place you little sinner..." It was just a message but Shadow's voice was so memorable he could almost imagine him saying them into his ear.

Sonic tried shaking the thoughts of him away but it was almost impossible. He soon accepted he couldn't forget him so he fell asleep to the thought of Shadow.
