Greyson's POV
It had been three days, and I haven't seen Daniel since. My heart ached at the potential thought of our plan going badly and never being able to see him again. But I had faith that everything would work out for the best.
I had been talking with Chris' mother since then and going over the details of the case. Her name was Annie a kind and sweet woman. Who would've thought considering who her son was?
Annie also agreed that I should just stick to telling the truth during the trial. She assured me that just hearing my story would be enough to get me out of here. It surprised me considering I didn't think my story had the power to change anything. But I was willing to try anything to get back to Daniel.
Today was the morning of the trial and it was scheduled to start in a few hours. I felt like a weight had been placed in my stomach at the thought of having to get on the stand and testify in front of a court room full of people.
It was explained to me that my mother would take the stand first, then Amanda, Daniel, and then me. My mother was surely going to be in a huge rage at the fact that this story was now being broadcasted in every blog, online journal, newspaper, news station, and social media website. My mother was a well known public figure and fashion designer of one of the biggest design companies in the country. Daniel and Chris' mom has done a great job of hiding the news stories from me.
It wasn't like I really cared that the news outlets were dragging my family name through the mud as I sat behind bars. It never meant much to me anyway.
My thoughts drifted on what the future held after this trial was over. Would I ever be able to return back to the way things were?
Then I realized that they wouldn't. They never could. And I wouldn't let them. Things had to change for the better. The past was something I never wanted to return to again.
I didn't realize how long I had laid there reflecting until the security guard came to my cell and banged on the bars.
"It's time for court."
I swallowed down my fear and focused on the fact that I would be seeing Daniel again. He would be at court. Along with everyone else I'd ever known. All watching and waiting for the final results. It finally occurred to me that things could potentially all go wrong and I could end up in jail for most of my life.
I took a deep breath and followed the guard out. They took me to the bathroom and allowed me to change into some dress clothes Annie had bought for me from my home for the trial.
It felt amazing finally being able to get out of the hideous orange jumpsuit. I felt semi normal again. But I knew that there was a chance that this was only temporary.
The drive to the court house was short with the guard just glaring at me the whole time. The same guard who continuously threatened to end my visits with Daniel if we touched each other at all. He clearly hated his job and I'll admit I hadn't exactly made things any easier for him. Not that I cared. He was an asshole. I winked at him just to piss him off even more. And he scoffed and looked away.
There were news reporters outside of the courthouse all taking pictures and recordings before the trial to broadcast to the public.
Annie walked up to me once I exited the car.
"Are you ready?""No. But I doubt if it matters." I said honestly.
She simply nodded and gestured for me to start walking. My legs felt like they were cemented to the concrete ground but somehow I managed to move them.
Hundreds of camera flashes went off at the same time blinding me and microphones were being shoved in my face repeatedly as I ascended the courthouse stairs. People were yelling things at me demanding answers to questions I didn't even have the answers to.
