Daniel's POV
Today was the day that I would have to see Chris again and as much as I hated to admit it my entire body was shaking. I kept telling myself repeatedly that Chris didn't mean to hurt me. That he wouldn't have taken what happened in his room that far. It had to be some kind of a joke. How could a guy that was so nice to me try to take advantage of me?
I turned to Greyson who was sitting next to me in Health. "Do you think we could skip Sunnyside Elementary today?"
Greyson looked at me with concern etched into his dark stormy grey eyes. "Yeah sure, everything okay?"
"Everything is fine. I just need a break from all of this craziness." I understood Greyson's concern for me but at the same time I felt as if I should be the one asking him if he was okay. He'd been acting weird ever since the situation with Chris happened. He just didn't seem like himself. He seemed really tired and really worn down. For the past few days he'd come to school in sweatpants and his hair looked a mess, which made him frustratingly still super sexy. It was just odd for him. He seemed out of it, like he wasn't completely here all of the time. I felt guilty. I felt like whatever was happening to Greyson was my fault.
I'd blamed everything on him and depended on him for everything. It wasn't fair. Over the past week I came to the realization that it wasn't his fault that his mother was a conniving bitch. Greyson had a lot of problems of his own and I was so wrapped up in my own world that I wasn't focused on whatever was going on with him.
"Hey, will your mom be home today?" I asked curiously with a small smirk on my face.
"No, I found out today that she's on a business trip. Actually, she's been avoiding the house ever since I destroyed her office." Greyson said casually.
"You destroyed her office!?"
"Yeah, uh, I kinda lost my temper after I found out what she did to you and your family. She hates confrontation and prefers to destroy my life from a distance." Greyson said glaring down at the table.
I put my hand on top of his, completely sure that I had forgiven Greyson at this point. I knew he was trying his hardest to help me.
"Let's hang out at your place after school."
Greyson looked me in the eye and grinned. "Sure."

The end of the school day came quickly. I was at my locker hurriedly getting my things together when Amanda came running up to my locker.
"Dan!"
"What's up Mandy?"
"I heard you're hanging out with Greyson after school. So that must mean you're finally done blaming him for the crap his mother is doing to your family, right?"
"How did you know I was hanging out with Greyson?"
"He told me in this disgustingly adorable way that you two were hanging out together again. He seems really happy. Dan Dan, you have got that boy WHIPPED!"
I rolled my eyes. "No, he's not whipped."
"Yes he is! Daniel you should see the way he looks at you. He looks at you like he's Ryan Gosseling and you're Rachel McAdams from The Notebook. It makes me want to throw up."
"Whatever. I just realized that I was being selfish. It's clear that he has some things going on and I've been so caught up in what's going on with my family that I've been completely ignoring him."
"Yeah he has seemed really out of it lately. So how are you going to cheer him up? Are you going to let him pop that cherry?" Amanda said making extremely sexual thrusting motions.
I grabbed her by the shoulders to get her to stop. "Oh my gosh! No! We are just going to hang out at his place."
"Stop being such a prude Dan! You have been with the guy for almost a month now and you still haven't figured out the complete mystery of Greyson Grey. The least you can do is figure out how good he is in the bedroom."
"Yeah, well some of us aren't prostitutes." I said sarcastically.
"As a gay guy, you would think that you would know better than to criticize a female for expressing her sexuality." Amanda said crossing her arms and glaring at me.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. Be a prostitute all you want, I don't care. No judgement here."
Amanda punched me playfully (but really hard) in the arm. "Don't be an ass."
I laughed and shut my locker door. "I'll give you all the details later."
"You better and be careful. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." Amanda said with a serious face.
"You keep telling me that, yet there's nothing that you wouldn't do." I said smiling evilly.
"Daniel, we need to stop hanging out. You are turning into me." Amanda said laughing.
"True." I said walking away. "Talk to you later."
As I was walking out of the school to meet Greyson at his car, someone grabbed my arm and stopped me. I spun around in surprise.
"Dylan? What's going on?" I said in surprise to Dylan, Greyson's only close friend. He and I had never communicated before. I knew he was fooling around with Amanda and maybe even really liked her but we had never spoken a word to each other, so it was surprising that he was trying to talk to me.
"Daniel you need to be careful." Dylan said quickly, looking over my shoulder as if he were expecting someone to show up at any minute.
"What? Are you talking about Greyson's mother? I already know-" Dylan cut me off by squeezing my arm tighter and pulling me off to the side of the hallway.
"That's not what I mean. You need to be careful around Greyson."
"What? Why?"
"He hasn't been himself lately ever since you stopped talking to him. I've known him my entire life. Something is wrong, and you can't keep playing with his emotions like that. He can't handle it." Dylan said staring me straight in my eyes, his features were tense and he still hadn't let go of my arm.
"What are you talking about? I'm not playing with him. I-"
"He keeps a water bottle with him. Have you noticed that?" Dylan cut me off.
"Yeah, so?" I was really starting to get freaked out by this conversation. Greyson was waiting for me and I really needed to go.
"Take it. The next time you're with him, take it and you'll see."
"Okay, can you let me go now?" I asked staring down at my wrist.
Dylan let go of my hand. "Look kid, he really likes you and I know he can seem like an impenetrable wall of angst sometimes but once he lets someone in he has a habit of putting that person before himself no matter what. And that's a great trait for a person, but not for someone who really needs to worry about themselves. Greyson is someone who needs to worry about himself so you need to make a choice Daniel. If you love Greyson then be with him, but if you don't or if you have doubts then you need to leave him alone for both of your sakes.
"Look I really need to go, Greyson is waiting for me."
Dylan nodded, studying me. "Don't forget what I said. Take his water bottle. You'll see."
