"Contrariwise, if it was so, it might be; and if it weren't so, it would be, but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic!"
You thought you had gotten lost.
The path to D. and D. garden was twisted and confusing, sending you off into loops between the tangled trees. Time and time again, you walked down what seemed to be the same paths and turns until you finally stumbled into something new.
A garden. Neat hedges and big bushes created mirror images of one another, duplicated into different colors.
White flowers on one side paired with red flowers on the other, matching hedge sculptures of animals and pretty girls scattered about. The hedged paths lead to two different turns, one off to the left and the other off to the right. But there was another path too, a larger and darker path right in front of you. Taking a moment to look at all of them, you wondered where all three paths might lead. You were still terribly confused but at least you now knew where you were:
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum's garden.
Looking around, you wondered where the twins might be...should you look for them? Should you choose a path? Right or left? Before you could decide, two figures began to approach from the dark path...two young men. As they stepped out of the shadows side by side, you saw that they were both tale and pale with pitch black eyes and midnight blue hair. They both had the same crooked smile, the same height and build, even the same outfit (blue shirts, black vests, black trousers, and boots).
But there were little differences between them, small things that you picked up on as they grew closer.
One twin had rather long hair tied neatly into a ponytail, the other had shorter hair. One wore a long, silky tie and the other did not, leaving his shirt slightly unbuttoned. One wore a set of pristine white gloves and round glasses, the other wore black gloves and no glasses.
Both of them, however, were smiling brightly at you. As they approached from the darkened path, they began talking to one another, their blue eyes never once leaving you.
"Do you think...?" One twin asked.
"I do! Would she...?" The other replied.
"She might. Shall we...?" The first twin said.
"We shall." The second replied.
Together, they both stepped forward and each twin took one of your hands, grasping them tightly as they grinned at you. The long-haired twin fixed his glasses as his brother squeezed your hand softly.
"Alice!" They said together.
"We're so happy you've returned, dear Alice!"
"Why'd you leave? Are you here to stay?"
"I-I, what? What are you talking about?" You stammered, staring up at the twins.
"Oh, dear..." The long-haired twin mumbled, glancing briefly at his brother.
"She doesn't remember." His twin replied, sounding rather annoyed.
"Not a thing."
"Just like last time."
Last time? What did they mean by "last time?" Had there been another Alice? Your eyes glanced briefly at the girl shaped hedges and you wondered if it might be her...or them. There were several, all different women, all cut neatly into emerald green hedges. You didn't even have a chance to ask them what they were talking about or about the other 'Alice.' You were suddenly surprised by the twins releasing your hands and bowing low to you.
