Play the twin's games.

You had to play with them.

Trapped between the twins, you knew that you had no choice but to appease them. Deep inside, you feared what they might do if you refused their little game...Dee's cold danger and Dum's burning anger were enough to make you wonder: What would happen? Would they hurt you?

You were afraid. So, so afraid, of both the twins and this horrible Wonderland. But you swallowed you fear as best as you could, trying desperately to smile at the twin's at you said,

"Alright. I did promise after all."

Immediately, the twins were both smiles and sunshine...and they let you go, harsh hands letting you go as they grinned at one another.

"Hide and seek!" The shouted together.

"We'll hide first," Dee said.

"And then you, Alice." Dum finished.

With no other choice, you nodded as the twins smiled, Dum laughing and murmuring about possible hiding places and Dee...smiling. Looking at you. How unnerving it was, how uncomfortable you felt. But his gaze was not on you for long as both the twins bolted away, commanding you to close your eyes and count to one hundred. Every number scared you more and more, heart beating and booming inside.

One...

Ten...

Twenty...

Thirty...

Forty...

Fifty...

Sixty...

Seventy...

Eighty...

Ninety...

One hundred.

Through the garden you went, peeping behind topiary and peering beneath bushes. Dee, you found hidden within the hollow of a large tree and Dum behind a large butterfly shaped hedge. They both laughed and grinned and said together,

"Your turn, Alice."

They closed their eyes and began counting together, you ran through the garden paths, taking twists and turns until you came across...her. A woman, cut out of emerald green leaves, pretty and...and terrified. Her face was twisted into fear, eyes wide and mouth agape in a scream. Her image sat upon a thick block of hedge, her face turned towards you and her arms outstretched and it...

"Ready or not, here we come!"

It was too late!

The scared woman was the only thing here in this little corner and, without more time, you had no choice but to run behind her figure.

Hiding in the shadow of the green leaves, you could only wait and hope that this would be enough to please the twins. Enough to calm Dum's burning anger and Dee's icy storm, enough to keep you safe from them and whatever they had in mind. Shaking in the shadows, you pressed your hand over your mouth and...you waited.

Listened. Wondered. Prayed.

At first, you heard nothing but the cold silence. But then, little noise started to reach your ears.

Laughter.

Footsteps upon the path.

Whispering.

"Do you think...?" A voice said suddenly.

"I do think!" Another replied.

"So do I!"

They laughed once more, a little louder, as they grew closer and closer with every beat of your frantic, fearful little heart.

"It's so fun, having Alice back, isn't it brother?"

"Very. I can't wait to play all our favorite games again!"

"Will she cry?"

"Will she scream?"

"Will it hurt?"

"Oh, we hope so!"

They spoke together now and they...they were closer. Your eyes had been closed so very tight but when you opened them, you saw two long shadows stretched upon either side of your hiding place. A shrill scream escaped your lips as two hands caught both of your arms, yanking you up and pulling you out of your shadowy hiding place.

Dee was to the left, staring at you.

There was a cold kind of satisfaction in his eyes, like a cat that had finally caught hold of the poor little mouse.

Dum was to the right, smiling at you.

He was absolutely giddy, laughing and pulling and leaning far too close to as he and hid brother glared down upon you.

"Caught you, Alice!" They cheered.

Together, they took hold of your struggling, screaming form and dragged you deeper and deeper into the maze. Together, they laughed and cheered and jeered at you every so cruelly, talking on about the "games" they would play with you.

You are...Sweet Alice! The twins are ever so happy that you played with them. They would like to play a little more, Alice, but...you might not like these games.
