The After Kingdom: UnOrdinary (Arlo x John)

Chapter 7

Arlo had been restless recently. The whole week, there had been a lot of interviews, and processing of files. The lab result of the drugs came out, and they were identified as ability amplifiers, dampening injections, suppressants and different types of a newly discovered drug that could temporary change a person's ability.

If the drugs got leaked any further, it could be dangerous, and the whole system would be broken. The authorities claimed to have burned and destroyed millions of confiscated drugs, but the NXGen have already sold thousands of it around.

At this point, they have to raid the bar as soon as they can, and question not just the workers, but also those that are currently in the scene. They'll do it later tonight, and after that, they had to shut down the bar for weeks as the investigation goes. If they are proven to be involved, the authorities would give them the rightful punishment and terminate the bar forever.

The blond haven't seen John for a week, but he's worried that he'll see him tonight. Arlo have texted Sera, telling her to convince John to not come to work this night at all cost. However, Sera couldn't, for she've forgotten to ask about John's contact after their meeting.

For some reason, Arlo doesn't want the authorities to know about John's existence. John is strong, a God-tier that could be highly useful to the authorities. If he was seen at the scene during the raid, he'll be interviewed, and he'll have to give his full details from his name, down to his ability.

If John was able to hide is ability in their high school days, he wouldn't be able to now. Luna could detect his ability and level just through a single touch, if they found out how powerful he is, they'll force and use him. Arlo wanted John to quit his job, but he've seen what happened before when he tried forcing John to the hierchy.

John would only rebel and destroy everything if the authorities got a hold of him.

When darkness came, Arlo went to the bar earlier before his team arrives with the police.

As soon as he've got there, he immediately searched for John, pulling him away once he've spotted him stripping on the stage.

There were complaints because of what the blond did, but Arlo ignored them, dragging John towards the restroom.

"What you doing Arlo?! Let me--"

"Listen to me John, you have to leave." Arlo said, grabbing both of John's bare shoulders.

"If this have something to do with you being disgusted with me, you won't be able to make me Arlo." the dark haired man said.

"This had nothing to do with it! Just listen to me and leave as soon as you can."

John was glaring at his eyes, looking annoyed, "I won't leave unless you gave me a reason to."

Arlo didn't want to reveal about the operation, but he had to make him leave. Calmly, the blond tried thinking of a way to make the other man obey him.

"Reason? Pfff. How about just go to my place and meet me up there in an hour? I'll pay you double of what I gave you last time." Arlo smirked, making John's eyebrows raise.

"You still haven't given me a reason."

"Don't be dumb, John. If a man pays you to go to his place, what exactly do you think he wants?" he asked him, staring into John's golden eyes.

"Sex..." John answered.

"Exactly." Arlo leaned to his ear, "Why spend the night here when you could be spending it with me instead? I would be paying you more." with that, Arlo pulled away.

It was so suspicious to John, seeing how Arlo have never acted like this to him, even when he was on his place before. Arlo have never expressed any sexual interest in John, only disgust. His reason isn't believable at all, so whatever it is, John concluded that it must have something to do with Arlo's job.

John gritted his teeth, "Fine."

Arlo handed him the keys, urging John to leave as soon as he can. Before leaving, John took his bag first, dressing in a more decent attire.

Once John have left, Arlo waited for his team to arrive. He observed the whole room, making sure that no one is leaving the place. When his team was there, he signaled them to start.

The police raided the place, commanding each of them to not move. While most of them did what they were told, a group of  masked men charged at some of the police, fighting them with their abilities.

Another group tried to escape, but before they managed, Arlo placed a barrier around the whole place, locking everyone inside.

The masked men tried attacking it in attempts to break the blond's barrier, however, it only reflected the damage to themselves.

During the fight, Arlo noticed one of them pulling an injection from his pocket, attempting to stab one one of the police.

Before he was able to do so, Isen shot him with a missile punch, causing him to fall on the ground.

The enemies weren't that strong, but because of the drugs, they could be dangerous if the police weren't careful enough.

Surprisingly, the fight didn't last that long, soon enough, the masked men were all knocked down, and the workers, along with those in the scene were escorted outside to the police cars to be questioned.

Arlo proceed to inspect the whole bar first, trying to see if there's anything suspicious. He also took samples of the drinks as well, to checked if they were infused with drugs.

The owner of the bar wasn't currently at the scene, but according to one of the guards he've questioned once they were at the headquarters, he was linked to NXGen, and he knew all of the transactions going on inside the bar. All of the guards said the same thing, while the strippers were all clueless. Arlo asked Quin and the other bartenders if the drinks were mixed with drugs as well, in which they denied, although Arlo was still quite suspicious.

Arlo spent the whole night questioning the workers and those who were at the scene, and once he was done, it was already four in the morning.

He found John sleeping on his sofa when he got home, he wasn't lying down, instead, he was seated, like he had fallen asleep while waiting for Arlo. The blond picked him up, moving him to his own bed. Although Arlo hated John, he couldn't stop caring for him.
