It was really heartbreaking to see John right now. His eyes were completely swollen, and he just looked so hurt and broken.
They immediately rushed to the hospital after receiving the message, and Arlo have witnessed how scared and devastated John was.
John was having a hard time accepting the news, and he kept yelling, telling them to bring his father back. He became so aggressive, that Arlo have to lock him down on his arms. The dark haired man tried attacking the nurses, then the guards, but luckily, Arlo was able to put up his barrier. John ended up inflicting some burns and a couple of wounds on Arlo before he was eventually tranquilized by the hospital's security team.
They wanted to punish the dark haired man, but Arlo defended his actions, and said that he'll deal with John.
He held John and looked after him while he was unconscious, the nurse insisted to get his wounds healed, but he refused. In the end, Elaine came there, healing his wounds as he held John.
John gained conciousness after some hours, and once he does, he broke down, sobbing on Arlo's shoulders until his breathing became ragged.
Once John was calm enough, they settled the papers, and the bill, and have given their consent towards a post-mortem.
Arlo scheduled a leave for the whole week, and John's father's funeral was held after a day.
The dark haired man only requested Seraphina and Arlo to be there. John didn't really know other relatives, and he didn't know whom his father's friends were either.
Arlo respected John's decision, despite Remi and his other former schoolmates wanting to console him.
John just stared at his father's coffin, with eyes completely swollen from crying.
But still, he gave him and Seraphina a fake smile when they approached him, trying to act like he was fine when all of them knew he wasn't.
When they left, John dropped his masked. He almost looked lifeless, and at the same time, hurt. He refused to meet Arlo on his eyes, and his movements held no will at all.
That night after his father's funeral, Arlo woke up in the middle of the night with John crying silently.
The blond didn't know how to comfort him, or atleast do something to lessen the pain. He never liked seeing John cry, and Arlo was never really good with words.
Instead, he hugged him, stroking his back and allowed John to cry on his chest.
"It's my fault." the dark haired man spoke.
If only John have tried to understand him. Maybe, he would've been still alive. If only he haven't been a terrible person, if only he haven't pushed his father and had been more sensible...
But John did everything. He sold himself, he sold his body just to make his father live. Yet everything still isn't enough. Now, John would never be able to apologize to him, and he'll never be able to tell him that he didn't meant everything that he've said.
"Maybe I really am a monster..."
"You're not." Arlo said, moving his hands on John's head.
John didn't believe him, but he didn't bother starting an arguement with the blond. He knows that he haven't been a good person at all, and he knew that everything was his own fault.
The blond just continued to held him, and John didn't really understand why. After seeing how violent John was, and even if he knew the terrible things that John have done, why was he still helping him? How can he still stomach to hold John?
