After receiving their gifts, the three children felt rather solemn and almost forgot what had led them there, untill a brown mouse stepped out of the hole they had hidden in. The mouse was big enough to look like a beaver, and his wiskers were twisted in a way that made him look goofy and angry.

"Now, misters, I don't think it very kind to destroy one's house, is it?" Asked the mouse, stomping one of his forelegs angryly against the snow.

Rapunzel placed both her hands against her chest and blushed deeply.

"Oh, we are so very sorry, we didn't know anything lived in here" She apologized, as her brother and sister nodded behind her.

"So you kids just casually get into miceholes without giving it much of a thought, eh?" Asked the brown creature.

"Mice?" Asked Merida, looking at the creature before them. If was of the appearance of a mouse, but big and chunky, and was wearing clothes that reassembled humans.

"Why of course. My name is Bernard, and me and my dear wife Bianca are proud mice through and through." Said Bernard, folding his two upper legs against its chest.

"We are so very sorry we destroyed your house, but maybe I can help you fix it?" Asked Hiccup, offering his bare hand for the mouse to shake.

After they shook hands, Hiccup used his shield to take extra dirt and snow out of the hole and placed nice rocks to line the dirt, to make it look more of an entrance. Once they dug deep enough, they found another wooden door, like the one in the faun's house, and they uncovered it completely. Bernard sighed satisfied and thanked the children.

"Bianca, dear! It is safe to come out, there are children here, and they are ever so kind!" Called the mouse.

The small, wooden door opened revealing a white mouse fairly smaller than Bernard, whom they all assumed was Bianca. She walked out of the hole and was followed by someone unexpected. Jack himself crawled out of the micehole and finally stood up beside his siblings. They greeted warmly and hugged him, as Bernard and Bianca watched their glorious reunion.

"Jack! Where have you been? You had us all scared!" Scolded Rapunzel, looking at Jack from every corner to make sure he wasn't hurt.

"It is okay, guys, some dude called Pitch kidnapped me, but I'm all free now, and Bianca took care of me!" Explained Jack, lightheartedly.

"Kidnapped!?" Asked Bianca, worried to death. "You told me you were lost!"

Jack shrugged shyly and gave them all a sheepish smile, contrasting with everyone's frowns.

"I mean, they let me go, and then I got lost." He said, putting both his hands up. "But I'm safe now, and we're together!"

Bernard sighed and negated with his head before inviting all the children into the house. They all hesitated, except Jack, and thought they might not fit in, but when they creeped inside the hole and crossed the door, they got themselves into a beautiful underground chamber, the dirt walls lined with river marbles and the rooms lit up by small torches placed all throughout the house. There were three main rooms in the chamber, each divided by a wall of dirt. They arrived in a room where a fire roared and the smoke escaped through a worm-shaped chimney. There was tiny wooden furniture and cheese pieces hung from the ceiling.

"Your home is lovely" Said Rapunzel, amazed. She stood up and noticed that the roof barely went over her head one or two feet.

"Why thank you" Said Bianca, sweetly with a thick northern accent. "I do always encourage Bernard to bring more visits"

The children walked around, stumbling across the various items that hung from the ceiling. They finally sat in the rock floor, arranged in a circle, and begun talking.

"Jack, can you tell us more about how they kidnapped you" Asked Merida. "Maybe, um, who did it?"

Jack breathed deeply and nodded. "This Pitch guy kidnapped and took me to a beautiful ice palace where the most beautiful queen lived, and she apologized, made me promise something about a lion dude called Mufasa, and let me go."

Rapunzel, Merida and Hiccup exchanged glances. They all looked horrified.

"The queen of the ice palace kidnapped you?" Rephrased Hiccup.

"What?! No! She is the kindest queen you are to meet. Her sentry, Pitch kidnapped me." Cleared Jack.

"Jack, we met a faun earlier, and he told us about the white witch that calls herself queen of Narnia and sunk this land into an eternal winter. Could it be that you met her?" Asked Merida, carefully, as she placed her pale hand over Jack's shoulders. Only then did she notice that his fur coat was gone and replaced by a leather cloak that hung over his shoulders.

"Oh, she did mention that her people usually call her a witch, but she is not evil, I swear!" Defended Jack, pushing Merida's hand off his shoulder.

"Don't you think she wants you by her side?" Inquired Rapunzel.

Jack pouted and looked at his siblings. He could hardly believe they would doubt him over a crazy creature they met in the forest. But then again, he was doubting them over a morally questionable Queen that sent off for him.

"But she seemed so kind... She even gave me a cloak and a vest because my coat was wet!" He defended, waving the leather clothing before his sisters and brother.

They all sighed and waved the topic off. "At least, as you said, we are safe now." Concluded Rapunzel, holding Jack's hand in hers.

Then the children looked at the two mice that had taken them in and thanked them both. Bianca said it was nothing, while Bernard said it was just the right thing to do. They chatted lightly until a thought struck Bernard and made him frown gloomyly.

"Kids, did you mention Mufasa earlier today?" Asked the brown mouse. Immediately his wife understood his concern and placed both her tiny paws over her husband's arm.

Merida, startled but quick minded, was the first to respond.

"Um, yes, the faun did tell us to find Mufasa as soon as we could" She explained, dumbfounded.

"And the queen told me Mufasa could help us end this winter curse" Said Jack.

"Oh, so you have heard the legends." Said Bianca, giving them all a sly look.

"We, we don't know anything about any legend, the faun only ever told us to look for Mufasa, but we don't know anything else." Said Hiccup, fidgeting with his hands.

"And you, dear Jack, what did the queen tell you" Asked Bianca, sweetly. Bernard gave him a reassuring look.

Jack told them what he could remember of the prophecy, with Bernard completing every other verse. When they finished, the children felt a heavy fog sit in their stomachs. With an unspoken agreement, they settled that they were, in fact, the four children of men that were to fight the eternal winter. But it was all easier said than done, and when they finally agreed to go out and seek for Mufasa, they had not a faintest clue. Bernard and Bianca offered to accompany them through Narnia, and even lead them to Cair Paravel, but they really didn't think it would be as easy as to walk to the palace, sit in the thrones an expect everything to sort itself out. They did discuss about what Father Christmas had given them, and how the spell was starting to wear off, but they were just as clueless as they had been in the beginning.

They decided that they could start by packing up a few provisions and walk towards the palace, and so they did. After a quick supper that consisted of cheese, creme a la creme a la Edgar and some salty crackers, the four children and the two mice set off, starting their journey in the dead of night.
