RACHEL'S POV
Since my parents died, l changed. Even if l was only ten years old, l still remember how mature l became. l didn't want the pity of anybody so l tried my best to cry only when l was alone.
lmagine loosing both of your parents at the same time. Ouch. lt was hard, mainly when you are just a little girl who needs her parents to show her everything about life.
Even if Gina took care of me, and l am so gratefull for that, l knew that l had to be strong and show people l wasn't weak. l had to pass through this and turn the page.
l am still talking to them, sometimes, tho. When l feel the need to admit them something l did, or think, l just look up to the sky -or ceilling- and speak outloud. I only do that when l am alone in my room or in the bathroom. l know it sounds crazy but after that l feel better, to know that l told my parents what was botthering me. Most of the time it's to apologize because of my bad attitude towards a teacher or because l don't know which decision to take. I know they are watching from where they are and all l want it's to make them proud of their daughter.
Like l said before, Gina, my mother's oldest friend, became my tutor, after the accident. I was alone and she welcomed me in her life, in Melbourne. At the beginning l was so angry because l had to move from California to Australia, but as soon as my plane landed, l was in aww. Everything here was just what l always dreamed of. l didn't knew why, but it immediatly felt like home, when my feet touched the Australia ground.
When l reached the airport, the family l missed a lot was there. They were living in Cali, closed to my parents and l but Gina had a once in a lifetime job proposition that she couldn't refuse, in Melbourne. When they had to move, my heart was broken because Gina's sons were my only friends. Actually, Beau, who was two years older then us, had his own friends and the twins, Jai and Luke were with me. Luke was my bestfriend and we shared everything.
So, when l arrived at the airport, after two years being apart, l ran to Luke and jumped in his arms. It was the first time that l accepted to cry infront of people, after my parents death.
We were only ten years old at the time and it felt like if we haven't seen in ages. I hugged Jai and Beau, then Gina kissed me with tears in her eyes, since she lost a sister of hers. Like the gentlemen he was, and still is, Luke grabbed my two bags and we walked out of the airport. They were now my new family.
My name is Rachel, l am now 18 years old and l still live with the Brook's family. They became my family as soon as l got in Australia, accepting me in their life. Now, l am Luke's bestfriend, our rooms are next to the other and we always spent time together. Beau is the funny and crazy one. He became a hottie with his gorgeous green eyes, which are a contrast with his skin colour. Then, there is Jai, who was the most distant to me. l never knew why, but he was the most mysterious for me. Jai, with his hazel eyes and curly brown hair, exactly like Luke, was the twin of Luke but they had such a different personality. l didn't mind, because l had Luke and l was find with that.
At school, we were always the four of us together. I said four, because there was also Skip, actually named Daniel, one of the boys oldest friend. When l arrived in Melbourne, he instantly adopted me and, with James, another member of our group, l was now part of their gang.
I am not the typical girly-girl who loves to paint her nails and stuff, but l am not a nerdy goody two shoes either. Since l grew up with boys, l am kind of one too. l love the same things as them, fight and play stupid games but l have my limits. l still have some girl friends, so l have a girl side in my personality. Even if l love to surf, eat and hang out with my boys, l like to go shopping, having sleepovers and talking all night long about the cutest boys of the school. Total opposite, l know but l think it creates a good balance!
I have brown hair that stopped just under my breast, which is not over size, l actually think that they are not big enough. l am quite small, and l love my green eyes. lt's what l love the most about my face, since they remind me of my mother. She has green eyes too.
Luke and l are bestfriends since l can remember. Him and Jai were born before me, but l know that we were playing together at two months old, since our mothers were friends. They wanted me and one of the twins to end up together, and create beautiful kids, but l knew that wasn't ever going to happen. First, because Luke was like my own twin, which is weird to say since he already has a twin... And second, because Jai and l aren't compatible. Let me explain. He loves to make out with tones of girls, while l am looking for a serious reationship. He doesn't give a damn about school, while it's one of the most important thing in my life, and there is so much more. When we are with all the boys, he is loud and crazy, but as soon as we are just the two of us, he becomes shy and can't look at me in the eyes. We are just like total opposite and l don't see myself with Jai. End of the discussion.
Well, that's what l thought, you know!
