"Guys did you hear?" I overheard some kids whispering while shoving books in my locker. "Elliot saved Blair from the Ellits"
I raise my eyebrows. Really?
"Woah. Is there something going on between them?" the other kid asks.
What? I scrunch up my eyebrows and look in their direction.
"I don't think so. The Ellits were on Blair's back because she slapped him"
I nod my head. That's true.
"Yeah but maybe she started liking him and they got together?"
What? As I prepare to storm over to them to get them straight, someone stands before me.
"I heard them too. Don't bother. You'll just get yourself in trouble" Edie grabs my shoulders.
"But they'll spread false rumors" I whine, grabbing her hands. I can't let Abby hear this.
"We'll deal with the rumors if they come out, now we need to go to class. We have a chemistry test, remember?" she raises her eyebrows.
"Oh shit, yeah" I quickly grab my chemistry book and dash to our classroom. I hate that subject. As I get home I'm surprised by not being greeted by Lumi.
"Lumi?" I shout, taking off my sneakers. Mom isn't home again. I just hope she is at her friend's house.
"Lumi??" I shout louder as I start looking for her. Then it hits me. The door was unlocked. Mom must've let her out.
"Shit" I put on my sneakers again. She doesn't know how to come back. She's barely figured out how to come back from our neighbor's yard.
I call Abby and Edie to help me find her."Are you sure she isn't just hiding somewhere in the house?" Edie asks, worriedly.
"Yes. I'm sure. I looked everywhere. Every nook and cranny of my house. She wasn't there" I huff angrily.
"Don't worry, we'll find her" Abby pats my shoulder.
"I hope so" I sigh. I really need to find her. She is my light. I can't live without her. Even though I've had her for only a couple of weeks, I still love her."Guys! Isn't that her?" Abby shouts and points to the park near my house. There was a dog there, playing with someone.
I snap my head towards it but all my hope is gone once I see the dog "Abby, do you even know what Lumi looks like?"
"Um...No?" she answers and smiles innocently.
I close my eyes slowly and sigh "I don't know the exact breed she is but she has black fur with a white spot on her belly, white snout and her left front leg has a white sock on it. Now, look for that kind of dog. Okay?"
"Noted" she nods.
After a while, we start asking people if they've seen her but nobody saw her. I'm slowly losing hope.
"Where is she?" Edie rhetorically asks.
"I just hope she's okay" I sigh with my hands on my hips.
"Guys! Guys! There!" Abby points to a dog that looks exactly like Lumi. But she has a leash? She is with another human?
"Excuse me" I get close to the person.
"Yes?" a lady says.
"Is this your dog?" I ask, pointing at it.
"Yes, his name is Kan" she says, petting him.
"His?" I ask. So it isn't Lumi?
"Yes, he's my boy. He's like a child to me" the lady smiles.
"Are you sure? Maybe he got mixed up with another dog?" Edie asks.
"Yes I'm sure" the lady sounds a little offended.
Edie pats the dog and he starts climbing her. As that happens, I notice that he doesn't have a white spot on his belly as Lumi does.
"But are you really sure? You maybe grabbed the wrong leash or something?" Edie insists.
"Excuse me but who are you?" the lady asks in a rude tone.
"I'm just looking for my dog and I think you have it" Edie says in as equally as a rude tone and puts her hands on her hips.
I smack Edie's shoulder whispering to her about the missing white spot. She realizes her mistake and widens her eyes.
"Um... I'm sorry. It appears I was wrong" she apologizes.
"It's okay, it can happen. I hope you find your dog soon" the lady politely says. Geez, that was a change of tone.
I'm glad the problem is resolved but we still haven't found Lumi.Abby's phone starts ringing.
"I'm sorry guys, my mom needs me" she says apologetically.
"It's okay, we'll look for her" Edie sighs.
"Call me when you find her, okay?"
"Okay" I say and hug her.
We walk around more until I spot Elliot.
He's wearing a hoodie that looks amazing on him. Surprisingly, he's not swarmed by the Elites. I guess they have a limit too. I respect that."Hah, look who's here" I chuckle, turning to Edie "I guess he does something else than study all the time"
She hits my shoulder "Dude, there's a dog with him"
Then I see a dog running around him, playing with a frisbee "Lumi?"
