Chapter 12

//" Part of me aches at the thought of her being so close yet so uncomfortable"//

*Recap*

" Detective Charles," he said walking over to shake Kayla's hand, "I really hate to break up this moment but I really need to talk to Tom"

" Oh, ok" she replied

Charles looked at me with a "please follow me look" I looked down at Kayla, I really didn't want to leave her side. But she looked up at me and gave me a reassuring look. I smiled at her before walking out the door with Charles.

" What's up," I said while closing her hospital door gently.

"Tom"

"yes"

"We found him"

*End of recap*

"You found him, you found Charlie?!" I say in shock while running my fingers through my hair

"yes, we found him staying at a hotel about 20 miles outside of London" 

"Oh my god" I whispered, "Is he in jail?"

"He is, Kayla is safe now," He said while putting a hand on my shoulder

"Thank you detective"  I sad with a sigh of relief 

"Just doing my job son, now get some rest, Tom, you look like hell."

I laughed and shook my head, "Thanks" I said before walking back into the hospital room.

"What was that about?" Kayla asked

"They found who hit you, Kayla it was Charlie" 

"What?!" Harrison yelled, "Fucking Charlie!"

Kayla reached out and grabbed Harrison's hand, he looked at her and immediately loosened up. I felt a heavy weight pull on my heart.

Kayla looked down at her hand intertwined with Haz and smiled to herself, but the smile was filled with pain, she shook her head and laughed.

"I told you Tom" she whispered, "He would never forget" 

I just stared at her, unsure of what to say. A few minutes of silent went by before Kayla spoke up.

"You guys should go, you all look tired"

"Honey we aren't leaving you" Mrs. Brown spoke

"Mum it's okay, I'll be fine, you guys go home and get some rest" she sent a reassuring smile our way

"Ok hun, we'll be back tomorrow" Kayla's mom got up and gave her a hug, along with everyone else following.

Soon everyone left and it was just me and Kayla. 

I hated to see her like this. Her once golden bronze skin looked so pale. Her face was so thin, she didn't look like herself but at the same time, she was still so beautiful. 

"Tom you should go home too, you looked drained" 

"I'm not leaving you, not again," I said while pulling up a chair and shiting by her side. She just laughed and shook her head.

"Tom I'll be okay, please for me, go home and get some sleep"

"Kayla-"

"Tom no, go home, I'll be fine" she gave me a soft smile but her eyes were stern.

"Ugh," I sighed in frustration, "Fine, but I'll be back first thing in the morning."

"Goodbye Tom," she said while showing me away

I walked over to her and gave her a quick peck on the forehead, " Goodbye Kayla" 

She gave me a sweet smile and I left the hospital room. I got in my car and drove back to my flat. I quickly got ready for bed. All I could think about was seeing Kayla's beautiful face in the morning, to hear her sweet laugh and witty comments... God I'm in love with this girl

HEY GUYS!!! So I'm back from the dead and with a new chapter. I think I'm gonna end this book soon but I've had a lot of fun writing it.
