// "its better to feel pain than nothing at all"//

(warning my loves: drug use and self harm is in this chapter)

* four years later*

Its been four years since kayla has seen tom, four years since she left him there that night.

Kayla was getting ready for a party, it was her 24th birthday, Sam and Emilie wanted to take her out to an old friends party.

Kayla got all dressed up in a black body-con dress and black heels. Her hair was curled and she had light makeup on. She looked good, she felt good. After so many years of pain Kayla finally felt ok, she felt like herself.

Sam and Emilie picked Kayla up and drove down to the party. They walked up to the door and knocked.

A blond haired boy opened the door

" Kayla!" she shouted over the music, a little shocked no doubt about it.

" Oh my god, Harrison!" Kayla shouted before wrapping her arms around him, " how have you been" she let go and looked at him.

" I've been doing great"

"that's good"

Harrison smiled and moved out of the way to let the three of you in. The music was loud, the smell of alcohol and weed filled the air.

" so drinks are over there, just help yourselves to anything"  he smiled before walking away.

" I'm gonna get a drink" kayla shouted, Sam and Emilie nodded before heading towards the dance floor. Kayla made her way to the drinks, bumping into a few people on her way there. She poured herself a vodka and coke, she was about to head to the dance floor when she saw a familiar mop of brown curly hair. She brushed it off and walked away.

Kayla danced for what seemed like hours, but that may just be the alcohol.

she was dancing until she saw the curl hair again. Without really thinking she followed him. She watched as he walked out of the glass sliding doors to the back. When she got to the door she saw a cloud of smoke around the guys head. She slid the door open, trying not to make a lot of noise, she failed. The boy turned his head and looked at her.

She was a little buzzed at first,  but then her eyes met his and she was completely sober

"Tom" she looked at the brown eyed boy.  She was shocked, not because it was Tom, but because he looked so.. different. His hair was long, it looked like it hasn't been cut in a while. His eyes where puffy with dark circles underneath them. His face was thin, he definitely lost a lot of wait. The simpler way to describe it was that he looked like shit, absolutely miserable.

" Hey kayla" he gave you a weak smile.

" Tom what happened to you" she walked over to the light green bench he was sitting on.

He took another puff of his blunt, " what do you mean, I look great" he laughed at his own joke knowing that he looked like shit

" can I sit down" kayla asked

" What your not gonna run away like last time" he chuckled again, but the pain in his voice wasn't hard to pick out.

" tom.." kayla paused trying to think of the right words to say

*Kayla's POV*

I  sat next to tom on the green bench

"tom.." I couldn't think of what to say, I spent so many days picking up the broken pieces, but seeing him like this, it just broke my heart.
