My eyes adjusted to the bright sun. I covered them with my hand as my parents and I were walking back to our car. We just done with my monthly check-up. My parents were more quiet than usual, but I didn't complain.

I got in the backseat of my dad's 2010 Ford Ranger as my parents took the front. We all buckled ourselves in silence. "So-" I spoke breaking the silence I couldn't take anymore. "what are we going to eat?"

We always grab something to eat after my check-ups cause they like to say we are celebrating me being healthy. I heard a couple sniffles before I got my answer. "Where do want to eat sweetie?" My dad asked before starting the car.

I didn't need to think. "Berry's." A huge smile on my face. "That diner on West-Co?" My mother asked, her voice about to crack. I just hummed in response.

The car ride was quiet besides the low music playing in the background. My father kept one hand on the wheel and the other on top of my mothers, I just stared out the window; watching the familiar buildings of Los Angeles pass by me as we drove to the diner.

"Here." My mother said lowly, stating the obvious. I quickly unbuckled myself and got out the car before my parents.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom while you guys get a table." I told my parents as we walked through the door, they just nodded. I started to make my way to the bathroom before I bumped into someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry." I quickly said, looking up a boy with a orange beanie on.

"Oh no, it's my fault. I should of looked where I was going." I didn't know what to say so I just nodded in response before walked around him and quickly using the bathroom.

As I walked out, the orange beanie boy stood out as he was in a booth with a blondie, blue hair girl, and someone else in a black beanie. I looked at him for a quick second as I passed his booth, his eyes locked on me for some reason.

I quickly sat at the table my parents got in the middle of the diner. I look at my mom as her cheeks were flushed in a dark pink shade, her cheeks were naturally light pink. "Mom what's wrong?" I asked as I reached my hand over the table, grabbing her's. "Nothing sweetheart." She sniffled as she placed her other hand on  top of mine. "Nothing."

She gave my hand a quick squeeze before I pulled my hand back and grabbed my menu. I ordered the usual when the waiter came.

As we ate, it was silent. But this one was comfortable, unlike the silence in the car. "I'm going to use the bathroom before we leave." My mother spoke as she wiped her mouth. "I am too." My mom and dad both stood up and left, I ate the little remains on my pancakes as a figure sat in front of me.
