A step towards change
Was taken today
'This suits you better'
They all say
And I agree
Wholeheartedly
But what I worry for
Is if they'll be able to see
Past my looks
And what's been in the light
To the part of me
That's different, but right
A recently realized secret
That isn't well known
Is no longer hidden
And wants to be shown
I know the repercussions
I've imagined the worst
I know that isn't always the case
For I've touched down with home base
All these conflicting ideas
Are beginning to burst
Now sure, I'm worried
That's a constant state of mind
But it hasn't hindered me before
And I won't let it this time
So another step
Will be taken
To face this tide
Of what will happen
And that step will turn to stride
The stride into flight
For courage I will gain
In what I know is right
Then my true self
Will forever be in the light
