After Math

Its been two weeks since the fire. The kids haven't gone back to school. Rumors spread like wild flowers. About the Anguiano house being possessed. It was hard for the kids to go back to their house. And there hasn't been a day that went by that jasper hasn't called to check up on Arianna. The first few days were the roughest. he stopped by the hospital everyday with Arianna's favorite flowers, candies, and a huge teddy bear. He would wait in the waiting room along with Autumn and the rest of the family. There were times that he didn't want to leave. He wanted to be as close to Arianna as possible. He wanted to take away her pain. He wished to take her place. Sometimes he would go sit in the chapel and pray for Arianna and Max.

Jasper and Azrael haven't been to school since the fire either. There still numb with shock. Tring to make sense of everything. They both began to question if Xavier had finally come home. To find strangers living in the place he once called home. Maybe it was his sisters. They knew the house was dangerous but to wipe out an entire family even that might have been a stretch. Because Jasper and Azrael have strong ties and were related to the family that lived there before the detectives though the boys would be able to shed some light on what had happened. They had them down town at the station hoping that they would incriminate Tonya and Nicolas. They began asking questions about what kind of people they were. As the questions kept coming, they began to feel like target suspects themselves. It wasn't until that following Wednesday the detectives got there first big break, lead in the case. They called Autumn down to the pricent. They had questioned her for about a little over an hour. The detectives asked about any strange activity that went on. Or anyone maybe wandering around the house. Autumn spent more time at the Anguiano's than any of their other friends. She even had her own chair at there kitchen table. They asked if she noticed anything out of the ordinary. And that's when she blurted out about Tatiana. She told them that she didn't know if it would help because she really didn't know to much about her because they never talked about her. But she continued to tell the detectives about how her and some other girls showed up at the coffee shop with bats. And Brisa had stopped them before they hurt anyone. And shortly after that incident the same girls showed up about a half hour later that same day at Max's house. And the girl jumped out of the car running and screaming about going to kill someone. They asked Autumn if there was anything else about the girl, she could tell them. But she didn't really remember much. They brought her over to work with a sketch artist. The detectives stopped by hospital only to find out that the kids were released. They began to look for them at the school but no luck there either. They checked at the house but the only people there were the electricians and the carpenters. They told the police that the Anguiano's had been gone for two weeks. No word on where they were headed or when they would be back. The police checked with both sides of the family, but nobody was telling them anything. They really didn't have too either. They weren't being charged with arson or anything just yet.

Tonya and Nicolas know that there's nothing in the world more important than family. With both growing up on the other side of the tracks they knew more than anyone that the grass isn't always greener. They knew all to well how police take to their kind. They were the two people that no body's parents would mess with or want to be alone in a room with. They would always do whatever they had to do to protect their family. Especially their children. No matter what. after the way the detectives approached Tonya and Nicolas. They knew they had to play it safe. They didn't want their family being shattered and tainted by the police. They felt like they were being threatened. They waited out all their options. It was by far the best move they made. Max was doing well. Better then expected. Arianna couldn't leave the beach longer than five minutes at a time. The angel twins were in love with the bright blue water and the hot sand between there toes. Brisa and Emilio spent everyday with their abuela Salud learning about the family, culture and their history. They learned how to cook more custom Mexican dishes. Abuela taught them how to make tortillas and gorditas from scratch. The food was so much better there and fresher. Tonya and Nicolas continued to work on location.

It was about three weeks later when Tonya finally got a call from her mother. The detectives had been coming out to the house everyday asking about there whereabouts. And that the repairs regarding the flooring and walls along with the wiring have been done for a week.

Tonya and Nicolas sat up talking about the plan. They agreed that the children were doing better and agreed that it was time to head back to the United States. The kids didn't want to leave Mexico. They begged to stay. But they had to get back the police would have lots of questions and they needed to get back in school. Least now Tonya would be ready to answer their questions. They were scheduled to land on Saturday. Mom picked them up from the airport. She had everything ready for when they got home. She had an extra key to the house. They pulled into the driveway and everyone took their places. They opened the front door when everyone jumped out "SURPRISE WELCOME HOME!"
