Chapter 2

My nerves were all over the place as I sat in the sick bay. The nurse was removing small shards of broken glass from my shoulder while Jason was getting his knee treated.

"We're so screwed" I said trembling with fear

"I don't get it" Jason said "You've taken down men thrice your size without breaking a sweat and you're scared of a fifty year old lady"

"She's a mean fifty year old lady dang it"

"You're overreacting"

"She's under reacting" said the nurse treating my shoulder "Lily is scarier than the bogeyman"

"You see even Soul agrees with me and she's not even an agent"

"Look we didn't know it was a trap. It wasn't our fault. She should understand that"

"Lily will find a way to blame us. For example" I tried mimicking her "When the mission is too easy you should know that there's a 70 percent chance that it's a trap"

"Come on. She won't say that"

"You'll be surprised"

My phone started to ring

"Hey Josh"

"Hey double R"

I hated that nickname

"Lily demands your presence. She is not happy at all"

"Don't you think I know that!"

"As soon as you're done with your treatment come immediately"

"Alright Josh"

I looked at Jason "Lily wants to see us"

"Alright you're good to go. Come back later so I can change your bandage" Soul said as she was wrapping the bandage.

"Thank you Soul. Let's go Jason"

"I don't get it" Jason said as we were walking towards the elevator "Why would Arkash blow up the building when his men were there?"

"He's Arkash, the reincarnation of the devil himself. Why wouldn't he?" I replied dryly

We walked out of the elevator as soon as it got to the top floor. I approached Josh who had a sympathetic look on his face.

"Good luck" he said with a sad smile

"Thanks, we'll need it"

We walked into Lily's huge office.

"Welcome Agent Rose, Agent Jason"

Fudge. It's worse than I thought

I started ranting

"Madam Lily we're so sorry about this mission. Arkash set a trap for us like he knew we were coming. We were lucky enough to jump of the building before it blew up and..."

I shut up when she raised her hand

"I have one question for you. How easy was it for you to get in"

"Super easy" said Jason

I mentally facepalmed

Why Jason WHY!!

"So it didn't occur to you that it might be a trap! For God's sake you guys are Silver Elites and you overlooked that fact?" She said angrily

"Do you know how much this Agency will suffer if we lost you two? I'm not even mad about not getting Arkash. I'm mad because you could've died if you stayed in that building for one more second"

Oh...that's new

"We're sorry ma'am it won't happen again" Jason and I said simultaneously.

"I had a call from the supreme leaders. We can't catch Arkash without help from another agency. As much as I hate this, you two have to work with another agency to catch Arkash. You will train with them and stay with them till Arkash is caught."

Jason frowned "Ma'am which agency?"

Lily sighed "The Kingfishers"

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME" Jason screamed as soon as we got to the training ground "The fucking Kingfishers! Out of all agencies it just had to be that one!"

Jason was more frustrated than I was. Yes the Kingfishers and Elites did not get along. They were a bunch of frivolous agents while we were disciplined or according to them 'A bunch of insufferable know it alls who likes to show off and think they're better than everyone else'

We didn't get along at all.

But Jason has history with one of them. I have no idea what happened between them but I hoped we weren't working with the person he had beef with.

Elite was one of the most disciplined agencies in the country. Like every other agencies there were four rankings: Rookie, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Jason and I were two missions away from Gold.

For our age, that was a major accomplishment. We were hated by other agents our age because most of them were either rookies or lower ranking bronzes. You'll barely see anyone under the age of 29 in silver.

I got in when I was 19. Jason was 20

So we were the most hated/respected duo in the Agency.

It took a lot of effort to be silver because of the high standards of the Agency.

But we did it.

I smiled as I remembered one of the supreme leaders giving my my silver tag.

"Hellooooo, earth to double R" said Jason trying to bring me out of my trance

"Don't call me that you idiot"

He laughed "Wanna Spar?"

I smirked "Hell yeah"

We stood at a distance from one another...studying each other... waiting for the other to make a move.

Jason came at me with a right jab which I was able to dodge quickly.
"Too slow honey"

"Why you little..." Jason took a step towards me and threw a few more blows which I dodged and blocked repeatedly.

"You're not even fighting Rose"

I curled my hand into a fist and aimed for his stomach. He didn't see it coming on time because of the speed I used so I knocked the breath out of him. He was defenseless for one second

One second was enough

I went into a chamber position and gave him an axe kick and a round house as fast as I could making my movements fluid and smooth.

Jason landed on the floor and got back up almost immediately.

"You know, you're extremely good with your legs"

"I try"

He lunged at me again glancing my jaw surprising me for a split second. Once I regained my balance I was able to block most of his attacks.

His fist flew towards me again. I caught his fist and spun around throwing him down

2-0

I gave him a smug smile "I win"

"Is it me or you're getting ridiculously faster" Jason groaned and got up dusting his body

I grinned "Come on Jace, Let's get back to our quarters"

"Alright then" he put his hand on my shoulder and smiled at me.

We walked towards the Silver Elite's quarters.
