Jason and I have only been separated for one year.
That was the most miserable year of my life.
I was not a people person. The only partner I've ever had was Jason, and when he was gone for that year, I had to go on solo missions because no one wanted to work with me.
Now I'm partnered with Max
Even though it was probably for this mission alone, I felt very uncomfortable.
"We should probably go in and look around" said Max
We were staking out the location we were given.
"This might be a trap" I said while remembering my last mission
"Why do you say so?"
"It'll be too easy to get in. There's only one guard at the front entrance and none at the back. If Arkash was really being protected, there'll be more"
Max stares at me for a while
"You're right. Going in might be suicide."
"I'm glad you agree with me"
"We should still stake this place out for sometime though, to look out for any suspicious activity" said Max
"Yeah we should"
Then there was an awkward silence between us until Max spoke up.
"You know you're really fast, it's kind of hard to detect your movement or to know what's coming because of your speed"
"Thank you"
"Why are you like this?"
I turned to look at him "What do you mean?"
"You're so uptight and cold" He said " I know every elite agent is but yours is on another level"
I opened my mouth to reply but the sound of a car stopped me. I turned my attention away from Max and saw three cars in front of the building.
About ten guards came out of the cars with a suited man who had a ski mask on.
I can recognize that bastard from a mile away...
Arkash
I pressed the button on my earpiece "Guys we found him...He just entered the building"
"Impossible" Veronica said "he just entered the building on my end"
"No, he entered ours" said Ruby
"He's tryna fûck with us..." said Jason, "How do we know who the real one is?"
"I'm sure" I said
"Why should we listen to you?" said Veronica with an irritated voice
"Believe it or not Arkash was the one who trained me. I've spent most of my life being trained by him and I can recognize him from a mile away. You haven't seen Arkash before...I have"
"She's right...she has more experience with Arkash than most of us do" said an accented voice which belonged to Aiden.
"Fine...you can go in, we'll meet you at your location" said Veronica
"I was going in without your permission anyways" I turned it my speaker and looked at Max
"Shall we?" said Max
I didn't reply. I jumped from the current building we were to the next one. Then I climbed down the metal ladder at the side of the building.
Max was right above me following my lead.
When I was halfway down the building, I jumped on an unsuspecting guard and knocked him out.
There were three guards surrounding me.
They all lunged for me and I jumped, making them collide into each other. I knocked one out with a kick to the head then tased the other using my beloved lipstick taser. As I lunged for the third one, Max knocked him out from behind using the bottom of his stun gun.
Max and I stared at each other for a while.
"You move fast" he said tilting his head to the side.
"Try to keep up"
I looked through the window and saw four burly men manning the staircase.
"Um Max, something tells me that Arkash is on the second floor of this building. We should go through approximately 11 guards before we get to him, what do you think we should do?"
"How do you know that he's on the second floor?"
"I just do"
"Okay, throw a smoke bomb and get through all the guards, I'll handle the guards downstairs while you get Arkash.
Ronnie and the rest of the team should be here in 2 minutes. Just make sure that he doesn't escape till we all get there and we'll be able to apprehend him together"
We put our plan into motion. Max kicked the door down and threw the smoke bomb.
One of the guards caught it when it went off and it exploded. I used that opportunity to run through them and up the staircase.
After I got through the first staircase four more guards were at the entrance of the second one.
Smoke bomb time
I threw the smoke bomb again which one of the guards caught...again
Dumbasses
I ran through the commotion and went up the stairs again.
At the top of the stairs, three were three more men. I took out my gun and shot them with xylocaine bullets as quick as I could. They all dropped to the ground
They'll live
I kicked the door down and saw Arkash sitting down on a chair.
He smirked
"Little Rose... you finally-"
Oh shut up
He didn't get to finish because I shot him with a xylocaine bullet four times which should knock him out till back up arrives.
I felt a presence behind me and turned around swiftly to punch the intruder but he held my fist.
Jason
"Damnit Jace you know better than to sneak up on me like that"
"I'm sorry Ro. Backup's downstairs"
His gaze drifted to Arkash's unconscious body
"Did you-"
"No Jace, non lethal bullets...he should be out for a couple hours"
"Damn Rose the agency's gonna be so proud of you...you took him down"
"I didn't waste any time. As soon as I sighted him, I took my shot."
As soon as I said that, our "team" members came through the door
Veronica's eyes drifted to the body and went back to me...
"Did you-"
"No, knocked him out with non lethal bullets" I replied in my my usual monotone voice
"Oh...well done" Veronica said "I shouldn't have underestimated you. In five minutes his body will be out of here, he'll go into surgery to get the bullets out of him and he'll be locked in a prison cell"
Everyone excluding Jason and I stared at Veronica in disbelief
"D..did you just" Max started
"Give her a..." Jacob continued
"Bloody compliment..." Aiden and Ruby said in unison
I guess it wasn't a normal thing to receive compliments from almighty Veronica but...oh well.
Veronica cleared her throat "I think we should all leave"
