I hang her the beer and say," of course." She puts the money and the counter. I go to give her the change to have her put it in the tip jar. I smile as she goes to meet up with some people on the far side. Craig looks at me as the song bartender by tpain comes on. I laugh as I see him dancing one of the stripper poles in the middle of the bar. I make drinks and talk to some of the regulars. I notice the clock ticking by totally forgetting about Craig. My boss taps on my shoulder as I am dealing with a guy with short hair and brown eyes. My boss says," Break time."
I smile and nod going outside to catch my breath.
I sit up against the brick wall and text my friend," love the new job. Got to run into my ex :(."
She texts," tough break. Hows living with Andy ?"
I text back ," actually very peaceful."
She texts," atleast that dramas over."
I smile at that text and text back," Yeah I dont want her man."
She texts," ah still drooling over Craig."
I laugh and hear," Hey."
I look up to see Craig and hear him say," God I missed your laugh."
I laugh harder and say," What do you want Craig?"
Craig says," I am not here to talk about the past. I just miss you."
I feel my phone vibrate. I smile and say," I missed your face too."
He smiles and says," I am over the past finally. Really hurt me though."
I look down and say," me too. Are you over it or just on top of someone new?"
He chuckles and says," oh so that's it ?"
I bite my lip and say," cant deny it."
Craig smiles and says," I didnt.."
I roll my eyes and say," Yeah and you called me a whore hmm. I remember her picture Craig."
He closes the space between us. He says," shes just a good friend. I didnt mean to say that I was pissed."
I smile and say," Yeah sure good friend."
Craig's eyebrow raises and says," jealous ?"
I roll my eyes and say," never."
My boss comes out and says," Break times over. This guy bothering you."
Craig moves my hair from my neck and whispers," Am I bothering you?"
I breathe in and say," hes not. I'll be right in."
Craig smiles and says," Yeah shes fine."
He says," ok I'll see you inside."
He shuts the back door. Craig says," your bodyguard?"
I laugh and say," my boss. I got to get back to work."
Craig smiles and says," I'll take a drink beautiful."
I laugh and say," come inside then."
He winks and says," I plan to."
I hit him and say," you're disgusting."
He follows me inside. I get behind the bar starting to pour more drinks. Ashley comes over and says," Craig. We leaving soon?"
He bites his lip eyeing me. He says," if you want to."
I smile at him pouring drinks. My phone bings. I look down to see Craig popup across my screen. Text read," I want you so bad."
It made me shiver and text," You had me."
He looks over and smiles. Ashley comes over and says," What's the deal with you too?"
I look in shock and say," nothing hes just my ex boyfriend and hes just drunk."
She says," look I am not worried. I am not his girlfriend."
I say," oh. Well we broke up because I had feelings for someone else."
Ashley says," yeah that will do it. Anyways I am going to head out. I think hes staying behind."
I smile and say," Thanks for the warning."
She laughs and walks out the bar. I text ronnie," apparently shes not his girlfriend." Its hits almost 2 so everyone on their shift starts closing down stations and cleaning off tables. Craig comes up behind me while I am cleaning table grabbing my waist. I gasped and said," You got like a thing for me?"
He pushes me against him and says," yeah you can call it that. This time no relationship no drama. No strings. What do you say?"
I roll my eyes and say," so like a downgrade?"
Craig winks and say," just connection no jealousy . No drama."
I walk out after clocking out with Craig right behind me.
He says," let me just try this."
He pulls me into a kiss. I gasped and kiss back loving the familiar taste. I pull back and say," I cant."
He says," why ? Ronnie still in the picture?"
I smile and say," hes actually not. Him and I are just really good friends. I just cant have mess with my emotions. I missed you Craig."
Craig looks down and says," I missed you too. I missed this. I missed your laugh."
I try to find his eyes and say," so lets just talk about it."
He groans," fine but with benefits?"
I laugh and say," fine only because I missed that too."
He wobbles next to me and says," can I spend the night with you?"
I think to my self and say," I'd have to sneak you in. I live with Andy and Juliet."
Craig says," my place?"
I say ," I'll drive lol."
He hops in my car. I text Andy," going to a friends house."
Ronnie texts," that's not what I heard but ok that's good."
Craig looks at the text and turns up the radio. He tells me where to go and we arrive to his house 20 mins later.
We get out and I say," I thought you lived in Washington." He opens the door and says," yeah Gabby and I broke up for real this time."
I say," I am sorry." We walk in and I see how beautifully he decorates. He says," Dont be. To be honest she was in love with the thought of us being highschool sweethearts. I am not the guy she really wants. She made that clear when I caught her on tinder at 3 in the morning. I am in love with someone else."
He looks at me studying his face. I say," I am sorry for what I did too Craig."
He says," I am sorry for calling you a whore. I didnt mean it. I am just so used to getting used by my significant other."
I look down and say," I knew that and I still did it anyways."
He smirks and says," So what do you think about my proposition?"
