"Hola bestie!" Exclaimed Jono cheerfully, as he plonked himself in the chair next to me.
"Goodbye Jono." I fakely smiled, getting up and walking to the front desk. He quickly followed me and got the gear he needed.
"How do I look?" He grinned. He had put the lab coat on backwards and had his goggles on upside down. I laughed and fixed his goggles. He stayed still and just stared at me whilst I did it, then I moved on to the science equipment.
"What?" I asked when I noticed he was still staring. He slowly went back into action but dismissed my question with a 'nothing' and shake of his head.
We completed the task pretty easily and then sat back down to start on the write up. It was slightly easier since our hypothesis was correct, which meant our conclusion was pretty much already finished.
Whilst I worked, Jono babbled in my ear the entire time, asking questions and repeatedly getting told off by the teacher for talking to much.
"I think I like you." He thought out loud, making me chuckle.
"Why?"
"Coz you're feisty, and you do all the work for me." He shrugged, but my mind was still on the first half.
"Feisty? What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, looking at him.
"You aren't like most of the other girls in our year. They all just want to kiss me, but you don't which is strange." He smiled, his big head returning.
"Not every girl wants to kiss you. I most certainly do not." I scoffed, even though I knew most girls did fantasise about kissing him.
He wasn't bad looking, with hazel blonde hair and light brown eyes. He had tanned skin and an athletic body, but he was way too much like my brothers. I don't know if I could ever date a boy, considering my past with the disgusting creatures I'm forced to call brothers.
"Most girls do." He smirked, but I turned back to the work.
The bell went soon afterwards, and I grabbed all my stuff getting ready to leave, but Jono grabbed my arm and spun me back.
"Yes?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Come to the canteen with me." He smiled genuinely.
"Sure," I gave in, not knowing how to say now. His smile grew wider at that and he linked his hand into mine as we walked through.
I could feel the burn of the stares from other girls as we walked to my locker. I wasn't a 'shadow' in my grade, but I wasn't the most popular girl in school, so it was strange having so many eyes on me for once.
We went to my locker and I put my stuff away, then reached for my purse. I opened it only to find silver coins that didn't even add up to a dollar. I cursed, then looked up at Jono.
"What?" He asked, looking back and forth between me and my purse.
"I don't have any money. I'll have to go get some off one of my brothers." I said to her.
"Sure. I'll come, but we need to stop at my locker on the way. Which one are you going to?" He smiled, making me feel relieved.
"Um. I'm not sure." I said, closing my locker and walking off.
Lachie would probably just tell me to go away before I could even get a word out, that was, if I could actually find him. Olli the same, which meant only Jaxon was left. He would give me money, but it might take some fighting to get it.
We stopped at Jono's locker, then went around to the senior school canteen seating area.
"Wait here." I instructed Jono.
"Why?" He frowned.
"He'll ask too many questions. I'm not supposed to hang out with guys other than Noah and Hugh." I explained, walking off before he could say anything else.
It didn't take me long to find Jaxon, considering how many people were crowded around where he was, and the noise of them.
I pushed and shoved my way through all the huge guys, trying to get a glimpse of Jaxon. They were all watching a footy game on one the computers, and he was pretty much at the front.
"Jaxon." I whisper-yelled, but he didn't hear. "Jaxon!" I repeated, louder. He looked up and had a pretty startled expression. He quickly stood up and moved over to me, grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the crowd.
"What are you doing here?" He hissed at me.
"I need money." I said shyly, looking at the ground.
"What for?!" He exclaimed.
"Food." I grinned, using my puppy dog eyes.
"Just give her the money Jaxon, then you can come back to the game!" Reasoned Dylan, who appeared right next to us.
"Fine." Jax growled.
"YES! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou." I squealed, giving Dylan a hug.
"Anytime, tiny." He chuckled, making me let go and follow Jaxon.
"Should be thanking me since I'm the one giving you money but anyway." He mumbled, barely loud enough for me to hear.
"Don't lose it or spend it on something stupid. Canteen food only." He growled sternly. I must have interrupted something pretty important today.
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks!" I smiled, giving him a hug too. Then I ran back to where I left Jono.
"Got it." I said, flashing him the $10 note.
"Great, lets go buy stuff, then we can go sit in my favourite spot." He grinned as we walked off.
I got a smiley face and sprinkle cookie and he got himself kombucha and a burger.
"Kombucha?" I made a face when we sat down to eat our food. He had taken me to a table which was outside, under a big tree. I'd never even been around the back of the school before, but it actually wasn't too bad. This was where senior school people usually hung out.
"Try it." He smiled, passing it to me. I took a tiny sip and instantly made a face.
"Gross." I said, taking a bite of my cookie to get rid of the taste. He chuckled and took a big drink of it.
"Can I have some of your cookie?" He asked hopefully.
"Tiny bite." I eyed him, making him nod. He held out his hand, but I shook my head and held it up for him to take a bite. Every time he tried to bite down I'd pull the biscuit away, making him glare and me start laughing. After me doing this about 3 times, he quickly reached out, grabbed my wrist, pulled it towards him and took a huge bite. "HEY!" I yelled, staring at the big chomp mark now missing of my precious biscuit.
"Wouldn't have happened if you just let me have the bite." He shrugged smiling.
"Let's play 21 questions." I suggested, and he happily agreed.
