"Can I go shopping tomorrow?" I asked no one in particular. I was curled up next to Bailey on the floor whilst Olli was choosing the movie since it was his turn.
"With who?" Hunter asked, still clearing the table from dinner.
"Friends." I responded.
"You mean your boyfriend." Lachie smirked.
"Oi." Hunter snapped gently at Lachie. He wasn't in the mood for our usual banter. He just wanted a peaceful night. Sometimes I wonder if he ever wanted to just be a normal teenager. He never got to spend those years being young and reckless, spending money and being carefree. From almost the day he was a legal adult, he's been taking care of us, not spending time doing what people his age stereotypically do.
"Which friends?" Hunter asked, giving all his attention to me and blocking out the boys.
"Noah." I said quietly, able to anticipate the reaction early. It's the same every time.
"No." Jaxon said.
"Why?" I groaned, although I had predicted his response in my head already.
"I don't trust that kid." He shrugged, as if that was good enough of a reason.
"I do though." Hunter said. "You can go but Jaxon takes and picks you up. Leave your phone on the entire time." Hunter told me.
"I'm not taking her. No way." Jaxon huffed. "Get Eli to take you Livi."
"Really Jaxon?" Hunter sighed, finally coming and sitting down on the couch.
"Not a chance." He scoffed.
"Fine. I didn't want you to take me anyway." I told him. "C'mon Bailey." I got up and walked into the library room. I called Harvey at first, but he didn't answer, even after I tried twice. Next was Eli and he picked up on the second ring.
"Hey Livi, what's up?"
"Can you take me to the shops tomorrow?" I asked, cutting to the chase. I didn't feel like making casual conversation and I figured he wouldn't care.
"Yeah, anyone else coming?"
"One friend. We can pick him up on the way."
"Him?" Eli checked. I could just imagine his face right now.
"Yes, him. So is ten good?"
"Hold up their missy. Did Hunter approve this?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Then why isn't him or Jaxon driving you?"
"Hunter is working, and Jaxon said he doesn't want to drive me because he doesn't want me going in the first place."
"Why?"
"Don't ask me." I huffed.
"Relax, Livi. I'm going to check with Hunter and then I'm sure it'll be all good and I can pick you up at ten. Do you need a lift home too?"
"Yes please, but don't you trust me?" I groaned.
"Yeah, but he will kill me if I'm responsible for you doing the wrong thing. I don't need to lose my best friend because of you, huh?" He chuckled. I knew he was joking but I still thought it was silly he would say something like that. Hunter and Eli had been best friends my entire life and I couldn't imagine them stopping talking just because of me. I needed Bec too much for that to happen anyway, although I'm sure I'd still see her enough.
"Fine." I huffed.
"Hey, don't be mad at me! It's not my fault."
"Kinda is." I grumbled.
"See you tomorrow, baby." He laughed before hanging up on me. I set up my computer to watch Netflix and tucked myself up with all my blankets.
I watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls, despite not being supposed to watch it, then started googling lots of things for the upcoming Bali trip. I started a PowerPoint on google slides and emailed it to Hunter, Jaxon, Olli and Lachie so that they could edit it too.
I did lots of photos of beaches, pools, pretty outfits, Waterbom park, markets and the Bali Swing. I doubted we'd get to do the Bali swing since it wasn't very close to where we were staying, but that didn't stop me from dreaming.
I continued until I got a text. It was from Jaxon to the family group chat.
What's the ppt for? He asked.
I replied and told him it was for Bali.
Right. Good luck getting in any of those outfits. ;)
Today's frustration with him only increased, so I shut my laptop and stormed downstairs, a very energetic puppy hot on my heels.
"Stop being so rude." I grumbled at him, trying to stand defiantly in front of him, blocking the view of the TV.
"Move, baby."
"If you stop being mean."
"I'm not being mean, now move." He reached out an arm and shoved me to the side.
"Jaxon!" I shouted.
"Livi, not now. Please." Hunter sighed. I didn't know what to do at that point. I wanted to keep fighting Jaxon, since he'd been on my nerves all day, but I didn't really feel like getting yelled at by Hunter either. Hunter looked tired, so after deliberating, I sulked over to Hunter and curled up in his arms. I kept trying to shoot Jaxon dirty looks but most of the time he didn't notice, and the times he did, he only smirked in return.
I couldn't help myself as I slowly fell asleep, but I cursed myself for letting it happen every single time I was in any of the boy's arms. Something about that specific type of comfort.
"Shhhh." A deep voice told me, whilst I was being laid down on my own bed. "Goodnight." The voice said after tucking me in. I knew it was Jaxon.
"No." I mumbled.
"What?"
"Stay with me." I said sleepily, holding his arm so that he couldn't walk away. He sighed but took his top off and got in next to me.
"Better?" He asked as I nodded, curling up tight against him.
"I love you." I told him, after a small space of silence.
"I love you too baby." He chuckled.
"Why are you laughing?" I mumbled; my eyes closed.
"Because you didn't like me before."
"No, you're mean."
"Go to sleep baby." He laughed again. I didn't get what was so funny but listened anyway.
