Ten seconds after Tristan knocked, Caleb answered the door. Almost immediately, the two connected, enthralled by each other and the smiles on their faces. He kissed Tristan's cheek and grabbed his hand before greeting me. "Hey Nate. Aiden's actually out back, just follow that stone path next to the driveway.""Thanks," I offered a small grin back. I liked him, he was nicer than most guys on campus and he made my best friend happy. He nodded and pulled Tristan into the house, there wasn't a doubt in my mind that as soon as the door closed they started sucking face like no tomorrow.
I followed that path he pointed out, and admired the green of the grass and the vibrancy of their house altogether, though they didn't own it. I was in a good mood this morning, no school was doing wonders for me. I think I was enlightened that I would see Aiden today. I think I wanted to see him.
I looked up and checked my surroundings in case I had wandered off too far. I was a fair distance from the house itself but behind it was just a big field and then some woods, so I assumed it was still the townhouse lawn. Plus, the path was still open.
"Aiden?" I called, since I couldn't see him. I heard nothing but birds and the breeze flowing through the growing grass. "Aiden!" I raised my voice.
Just then, he sent me a text.
U here ? - Pattinson
I rolled my eyes, coming to a stop.
No, I'm walking through a different Aiden Pattinson's yard. - Me
Well tell him that u only have room for one in ur life! - Pattinson
Come find meeeee! - Pattinson
I sighed, where are you? - Me
Woods. Find me. - Pattinson
I started off into the woods, though as soon as I hear a noise that doesn't belong you best believe I'm going to run. "This better be worth it. I better get a bonus on my paycheck."
I walked for about five minutes before coming across a cozily small treehouse. "Aiden?" I questioned, as if the structure itself would speak to me. What actually startled me, was that it did. "That's his name, scream it if you want to!" The curly haired man's head popped out from its entrance. "Hey Nate!"
A shadow of a smile worked its way onto my lips as I processed the image of a grown ass man in college, standing in a treehouse. "How elementary of you."
He scoffed, pouting in offense. "Hey, big boys can have tree houses too! Come in!" He was way too bubbly for me to tolerate sometimes. But the cheesy smile on his face then made that thought fly out of the window, and I climbed up the two mini-flights of stairs he had. It wasn't a simple treehouse-it was intricately built and I was actually quite impressed.
"You built this yourself?" When I entered it, my mouth fell open. It was practically a bachelor pad, except the bachelor inhabiting it was into other bachelors. There was even a small flatscreen and a PlayStation, a small refrigerator and a tabletop mini stove. String lights hung from the ceiling for a soft glow that wasn't too bright, and the floors were covered wall to wall in shaggy rugs of different colors. There was also a pull-out sofa bed in the center of the back wall.
Aiden smiled proudly as he grabbed two cans of Pepsi from the fridge. "Yeah. Don't tell Caleb I let you in here, he'll be jealous."
