Mary

Freddie and I lived in the flat now for a few months and the days went by without anything special happening.
One morning Freddie was a bit quiet and didn't talk as much as he usually did. He ate his food very, very slowly and didn't talk at all.
After a while I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to break the silence.
"Are you alright Freddie?" I asked with a worried look on my face and stopped eating.
"Hmm?... Oh yes I'm... I'm... I was just thinking about someone." he answered and looked out of the window for a while.
"If something is wrong you can tell me. You know that don't you?" I asked carefully and he smiled at me.
"Thanks dear. I'm very happy that we're friends. But everything is fine. Don't worry about it." he laughed and started to clean up his place.
I knew that he was lying to me but if he don't wanted to talk about it then it would be okay.
After we've cleaned up the table I went into my room and shutted the door behind me. I've still had to do a bit of work for my university and while the weather was still bad I decided to stay inside and focus on working a bit.
After a few hours I was ready and took out an vinyl and started listening.
After a while Freddie knocked on my door and came in.
"Can I talk to you?" he said a bit shy and I turned the volume of the vinyl down.
He gave me a smile and started talking. "The reason I was that quiet at breakfast was that I was thinking about someone. About a girl. Her name is Mary and I think I really like her." he said slowly. "Well yeah I do. Because we're dating since a few weeks and now I wanted to introduce her to you and Brian and Roger and John and my Family." Freddie said. He looked at me full of expectation. "She likes cats too and she's so amazing. I can tell her really everything and she understands me so much in every way. Just like you do. Just that she's my girlfriend you know... But what do you think if tomorrow we're going to invite all of them over and have dinner with them and introduce Mary to the family. "he said and was smiling brightly.
He often used to talk about us (John, Brian, Roger and Me) as family members too.
" That's a nice idea! I said. I'm sure that she's going to like it. "I answered and Freddie gave me a big hug.

The next day both of us woke up very early. Freddie was very excited to introduce Mary to his Family and friends and I still had to do some work and clean up the flat a bit.
At 5pm the first guests (Freddies Parents and his Sister) arrived.
I knew them already because they used to visit Freddie often and I liked them all very much. Especially Freddies mom was very nice and always brought some selfmade cookies or sweets with her.
After a while Roger and Brian arrived and a few moments later John arrived too. Now we all were just waiting for Mary and exactly when Freddie wanted to tell everyone that he wanted to introduce her to us she rang at the door.
When she walked in I already thought that she looked very nice. She seemed to be very friendly and everyone was getting along with her very well.
Everyone talked to her a little and when we finally talked she actually reminded me of one of my friends.
She told me how she'd met Freddie and how excited she was to finally see his flat. And at all she seemed very likeable to me.
