Lost and in love

Chapter 20: You're ok!

I get up the following morning at 7am and take my dress out before heading into the bathroom to take a shower. I then brush my teeth and wear a singlet while i do my hair and makeup. I don't want to ruin my dress. I blow-dry and then curl my hair, i use some pins to pin it up on the sides. I put on some peach eyeshadow, mascara, foundation, concealer, blush and some peach lipstick. I walk to my full length mirror and take a deep breath before looking. Wow I look really different, but I didn't expect to be wearing it for the hospital. I put my phone and makeup into my bag before heading downstairs for breakfast.

As I carefully walk down the stairs the smell of pancakes wafts from the kitchen. "Goodmorning mum" i sing as i head into the kitchen, "Goodmorning sweetie" mum replies as she turns to look at me. "Wow you look beautiful in that dress" mum says. "It's not what I wanted to wear it for" i sigh taking a deep breath. "Oh honey" she says pulling me into a hug. "It'll be ok" mum whispers into my shoulder. "Come on let's eat before we're late" she says looking at the clock. So we sit and eat, i eat really carefully to not ruin my dress.

"Okay let's go" i say when i see that it's 10 am. "Yeah but just let me wash the dishes" mum says. "Okay" i say figdeting with my dress, i can't wait to see Jake. It seems like forever before my mum says "come on let's go". I get up and slip my silver flats on because I honestly can't be bothered to wear heels. I grab the ready made jelly and juice then place it in a plastic bag. We then head out the door and to the car.

We get to the hospital at about 10:45 am and i feel really excited. I walk quietly into the room and place everything in the fridge in his room. "Hello Mrs Anderson" i say pulling a chair next to Jakes bed. "I'll wait outside" my mum says. "Okay" i reply as she walks out. The nurse walks in with the special medicine and injects him. He starts to stir after about 5 minutes. "I'll go get the doctor" i say getting up before Karen gets a chance to protest.

"Excuse me" i say to the first doctor i see. "What's wrong?" he asks. "My boyfriend woke up from his coma and his starting to move" i finish slightly out of breath. "Okay I'll go see him" he says following me to the room. He checks him out and by now his eyes are open. "Kate?" he questions sounding strained. "Jake" i say grabbing his hand "your okay!" i exclaim as i feel a tear sliding down my cheek. "Um excuse me but i need to examine him to see if he's not suffering from a concussion" the doctor says clearing his throat. "But Kate can you please give me some water?" Jake says in a voice barely above a whisper. "Is that okay?" i ask turning to the doctor. He nods his head in reply. So i hand him a cup of water and walk out.

After a while the doctor comes outside with a clipboard. "We ran some tests and they all came back negative for concussion" he says with a smile. "So he's okay?" i ask my heart skipping a beat. "Yeah he just needs to be monitored for a few days" he replies. "Hey Karen" i say "yeah?" she answers. "You go in to see him first and then we'll have our date if you don't mind" i say . "Sure" she replies walking into his room. After about half an hour she walks out. "He's asking for you" Karen says. "Oh ok i guess I'll go then" i reply heading into his room.

I knock on the door until I hear a weak "come in" from Jake. I slowly walk into the room. "Hey, are you alright?" I ask when i see him. "Yeah i guess so, i just feel fogged" he replies. "Oh do you need me to call the doctor or something?" i ask abandoning the chair i was about to sit on. He starts smiling "the doctor said it's normal to feel fogged" he replies staring at me with an amused look now. "What?" I ask, "your so cute when you get flustered" Jake says. "Oh really now?" i reply raising my eyebrows.

"So are you up for jelly?" i ask feeling my face heat up. "What but I'm so hungry" he whines. "Well your only allowed jelly and juice for now. "So don't complain because I'm eating it too" i finish. I get up and grab two strawberry jellies out of the fridge and place them on his table. I also get two spoons. He grabs his and tries to open it but his struggling so i take it of him and open it. "Now do you want me to feed you or are you going to be alright?" I ask. "Stop worrying I'll be okay" he says. So we eat in silence. "Hey Kate can you get me something to drink?" he asks with an embarrassed look on his face. I get up and grab two bottles of juice. I make sure to open his before placing it on the table.

"Thanks" he says. "Your welcome, it's really no bother because i love you" i say the words slipping out before I could stop them. The room goes quiet for a while before he says "i love you too". "Hey Kate can you come closer i need to tell you something?" he asks. "Yeah sure" i reply bending over and he places a hand on my back and pulls me closer before kissing me on the lips. It feels so special and like it's meant to be. We kiss for a while before i pull away. "Kate i..." Jake starts. "No it was perfect" i reply. "But you pulled away" he protests. "I just couldn't breathe" i chuckle.

"I'm sorry about what happened before" he starts. "That's okay i forgive you, I'm here for you" i say and it's only going to get harder i finish. "We need to fight through this" Jake says . "Yeah and I only realized how much i need you after i nearly lost you" i say looking away to hide my face. "I'm sorry too" i confess looking back at him.
