Chapter 19: Special for you

After talking for a while Ellie heads home with her mum. I head to Jakes room and look through the window. Am i ever going to hear his voice again? Or see his smile? I really miss him. I can't wait till he finally wakes up and we have our date. My phone starts buzzing and i walk to the hospital entrance. I check to see that it's my mum "hey honey are you alright?" she asks as soon as i answer the phone. "Uh no" i reply, "oh..." mum says awkwardly. "Jakes in a coma" i whisper. "Well I'll be right there and I'm taking you home" she answers with a worried tone.

I sit on a nearby chair and wait for her to come. Suddenly she comes striding into the hospital. "Come on let's go home there's no point in staying here" she says. After thinking about it for a moment i decide to just listen. "Okay mum let's go" i reply grabbing my bag and jacket. We head to the car and head home. The ride is very silent and my emotions are all over the place. My mum makes me eat lunch but i barely manage a few spoonfuls before pushing it away. I then head upstairs and take a quick shower before going to bed.

I don't wake up till the next morning and i head into the bathroom to brush my teeth snd wash my face. I then go back into my room and get dressed before heading downstairs for breakfast. I watch some TV while i wait for my mum to get ready. Good thing i don't have to worry about going to school because it's the holidays. I hope Jake will be okay after he wakes up and makes a quick recovery.

My mum comes downstairs "good morning Kate" she says. "Oh good morning mum" i reply "can you drop me off at the hospital today?" i ask. "You sure you want to go? because he's asleep anyway" she asks . "Actually can we go to the shops instead i need to get some things" i say thinking of our date. "Ok then but just let me finish my breakfast" mum says walking into the kitchen. After she finishes we head to the car and drive to the mall. I go into the party shop and decide to go with a 'Get Well' theme. I get a banner, balloons and a card. I then call the hospital to see what Jake can eat after he wakes up. They say he can only have jelly and juice so i go and buy some of that.

I guess I'm going to go find my mum now. So I'm going to head over to the clothing store she said she'll be at. I walk into the store and find my mum near a clothing rack filled with shirts. "Hi mum" i say, "hey Kate did you get everything you needed for tomorrow?" she asks. "Uh yeah I did" i reply "can we go to the hospital?" i continue. "Yea but lets grab something to eat first" she says. I order a small chicken salad and water because whenever I'm upset i lose my appetite. We sit down to eat in silence. "Come on Kate let's go" mum says grabbing her bag.

We head to the car and we head home to drop the food at home before we head over to the hospital to see Jake. We walk in and head over to Jakes room, i see his mum sitting next to his bed so i decide to knock. She looks over and when she sees us she calls "come in" and we walk in i pull a chair two chairs for me and my mum and we sit down. "So Karen have they told you what time their going to get Jake out of the coma?" i ask "uh yeah they said at about eleven in the morning" she replies looking over at him. I get up and pull her into a hug "I'm really sorry but i hope everything will be okay".

"Do you want to help me decorate before tomorrow?" i say pulling away and sitting back down. "Kate none of this is your fault and sure I would love to help you decorate" she replies. So my mum gets up to grab the things and we hang them all up. I really want this to be special for him "oh" mum suddenly says looking at her watch "visiting times nearly over so we should head home" she says getting up and putting her chair back. I get up to "bye Karen" i say are you going to stay here? or go home?" I ask. "I think i'll just stay here" she replies. "Okay bye i'll see you tomorrow" i say "bye Karen" my mum says.

We drive home and have a late dinner with my mum and dad then i head upstairs to take a shower and brush my teeth. I then get dressed and i find it very hard to sleep because I'm feeling really nervous but i eventually do.
