I got to school early the next morning. Technically, I didn't get a choice because I live with Mr. Karasuma, but I told myself I brought myself to school early. I sat back on my chair and sighed softly. It was only about seven in the morning, so Annabelle probably wasn't going to be at school any time soon.
After a few minutes of being bored, Korosensei walked in. "And the octopus arrives early today. That's new." A smirk grew across my face and Korosensei glanced over towards me. "I tend to arrive early on Fridays, but you aren't normally here early Karma, is everything okay?" I shrugged and looked towards the forest. Normally, Annabelle would be down there with me, training or talking. "Everything's fine, I guess. Nothing new." Korosensei snickered to himself and I raised an eyebrow but shrugged it off afterward.
When people started walking into the classroom, it was hard to believe that Annabelle wasn't there. She was normally earlier than the others, why today was she late?
"Korosensei, I'm stepping out." I stood up and threw my bag over my shoulder. Having everyone stare at me as I left the room was normal, it was energizing yet, infuriating. I slid the door shut and slipped into the next room. "Hey, Mr. K." I sat myself down in a chair next to the busy agent. On his laptop, as always. "Yes, Karma?" I shrugged and glanced towards the forest, still no Annabelle. "I was wondering if you'd like to give me a ride." Mr. Karasuma glanced at me briefly before sighing softly to himself. "Where to?" I smirked and stuck one hand in my pocket. "Just to a friends house."
Karasuma raised an eyebrow but agreed. We walked down the forest and to his car together. It was nothing new, except this time, I wasn't going to school or his house. This time, I was going to Annabelle's house.
The car ride was slightly more awkward than usual. It generally consisted of basic homework questions I didn't need help with. But, Mr. K was a lot quieter this time. "This specific house got an address?" I paused my thoughts and stared at the phone in my hands, "Ah...I don't know."
Mr. Karasuma eyed me down and I hesitated. "It's Annabelle's house. You guys have our addresses right?" He chuckled to himself and turned a corner, turning down the road to my house, which was also where Annabelle lived.
"This is her address. Why are we here again?" I smiled and stepped out of the car. "She's not here, so I'm checking to see if she's okay." Mr. Karasuma sighed and sat in the car, I sped up Annabelle's driveway and knocked on the door. "This house is quite nice."
"Who is it?" A voice on the other side of the door shouted from a small distance away. I could see the shadow from inside in front of the door. "Ah, it's Akabane, is Annabelle there?" The door opened and an older man was standing at the door. "What's it to you?" I took a step back and smiled softly. "I'm a classmate, she's not at school so-"
"She's not? She left before I got home." I felt my stomach drop and a chill goes down my spine. There were no words that could come out of my mouth that would have sounded even the slightest bit reasonable. Although I could have worded the sentence better than what I did. "Where is she then?! What the hell did you do to her?!" My body moved on its own and before I knew it, I was being pulled away from the man by Mr. K himself.
"Karma!" I scowled to myself and Mr Karasuma dropped me to the ground. "Sorry for the trouble Mr Duncan, we were only looking for your daughter." The man glared at me and I stood back up. "I'm sorry." I spat the words out, I didn't mean them, nor did I care whether he knew that or not. A moment later, Mr Karasuma was dragging me across the road to the park.
We sat down on a bench and I leaned my head on my arm. "What the hell was that?" I gave my teacher a look of disappointment and anger. I just wanted to know where Annabelle was. "Y'know, he doesn't know where she is right?" Mr Karasuma sighed and looked around. "Well, maybe she ran off somewhere." I glanced at the tree to my left, of all things, I wouldn't have thought to see a person. "I know where your friend is. I saw her this morning." The kid jumped down from the tree, his hair was a pale blue and he had the look of death in his eyes. "Where did she go?"
The boy shook his head and took a few steps towards me. "That's not the right question to be asking, the question is who took her?" My eyes widened and I felt myself go light headed. "Wait, she was kidnapped?" The boy nodded again and pointed over towards a nearby building, not run down or damaged in the slightest. If anything it looked like a laboratory for scientists. "I can take you if you like." I turned to Mr K, who pulled out his phone. "Just let me notify your teacher about this." I glanced back at the mysterious boy and narrowed my eyes. "Name?"
"Itona Horibe."
I smirked and chucked my hand out lightly to meet the boys. He reminded me of someone, not that I knew who. At that moment, I just wanted to find Annabelle. "Well, I'm Karma Akabane. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Mr Karasuma got off the phone and gestured me to wait a few minutes , before I knew it. The class was in the park, geared up and ready to help me fight for my best friends life. I was handed my gear and weapons, and we started with our plan.
"Let's get Annabelle back!"
