A young, blonde girl looks at us through the fireplace, confusion and slight fear woven on her face, the light from the fire licks at her soft skin, shadows dancing in the furrows of her forehead as she watches us.

"Hello." Is all she says, not a question but a small amount of confusion still finds its way seeping through her French accent.

"What's your name?" I ask, trying incredible hard to soften my voice into a motherly question, something extremely difficult for a warrior such as myself. My bonded sends a wave of gratitude for attempting be maternal for the little girl, as he also senses her wary.

"Reinette." Her voice isn't shy, though still soft as she speaks to the two of us. My soothing voice seems to have relaxed her slightly, as her instincts think of me as motherly figure, thus calming the wary child inside her. The human psych is so easy to predict and manipulate.

"Reinette," The Doctor tests, the foreign name rolling off his tongue in a natural wave. "that's a lovely name. Can you tell me where are at the moment, Reinette?" He asks softly, a softness that I really enjoy listening to. Her young eyebrows furrows again, a small frown adorning her face.

"In my bedroom." I nearly chuckle at her innocent answer, she's obviously confused as to why the people. In her fireplace doesn't know where they are.

"And where's your bedroom?" I soothingly ask, trying to temp the answer out of her using a more direct question. "Where do you live, Reinette?" Her name feels weird on my tongue, as I've never been to be France before during my human and Timelord life.

"Paris," She nearly scoffs, but her immaculate manners stopping her from doing so, "of course. Madam," She looks at me, "Monsieur," moves her eyes over to my soulmate. "what are you doing in me fireplace?"

"Oh, it's just a routine fire check." The Doctor enthusiastically beams. "Can you tell me what year it is?" I send an amused wave through the bond.

'Really, a routine fire check?' I laugh into his head. 'Is that the best you could come up with?' He sends me a mock glare, amused with my questions.

"Of course I can. Seventeen hundred and twenty seven." She says.

"Right," I say, figuring out where all the power is going. "lovely."

"One of my favourites." The Doctor beams, "August is rubbish though." I nod with him, my memory of human history unparalleled, it being one of my favourite past-times to learn about when I was younger. "Stay indoors. Okay, that's all for now."

"Thanks for all your help." I speak up, voice still disgustingly soft. "Hope you enjoy the rest of the fire. Night, night."

"Goodnight, Madame, Monsieur." She sleepily says, standing and heading for her large bed on the other side of the room. The Doctor and I stand up, I stretch my legs, loosening my already loose muscles in my legs in case I need to move quickly suddenly; a habit that is still ingrained into my mind after my time in the War. We both turn around to face the two humans behind us.

"You two said this was the fifty-first century." Mickey speaks up from his position by the peep hole.

"Nemesis also said that this ship was generating enough power to punch a hole in the universe." The Doctor lazily says. "I think we just found the hole. Must be a spatio-temporal hyperlink." I roll my eyes at his made up term, giving him a 'really?' look, he just smiles in response.

"What's that?" Mickey makes a face at the term, not understanding what it means.

"Nothing, he just made it up." I say. "What he means to say is that this spaceship is puncturing a hole in the universe that opens up in a different time and place. He just didn't want to say 'magic door'." The Doctor lets out a little indignant 'it's not technical enough'. I roll my eye and smile at my mate.
