Ethan had been patiently waiting for Antonio's phone call and after hanging up him, he rushed over to the hospital. He walked into Harlow's room excited to meet his nieces and as he walked over to Harlow, he handed her flowers. "How does it feel to be a mom?" he asked, kissing her on the forehead.
"Thanks, Ethan. I guess it hasn't really sunk in yet. But I do have to say, when the nurse placed the girls in my arms, I wanted to break down and cry."
Antonio snapped his head towards Harlow, worried she was unhappy, then looked at Ethan and noticed he too was giving her a questionable look.
"How come?" Ethan asked.
Tears started flooding her eyes and smiled. "Because, they're the most beautiful girls I've ever seen and they came out of me," she said choked up. Ethan reached for some Kleenex and snickered as he handed her some tissues. "What's so funny?" she asked as she took the tissues from his hand.
"Nothing. I was going to be a smartass, but chose not to be... so, when can I meet and hold my nieces?"
"They'll be back soon, they had to run some tests on them, normal procedure stuff." Antonio said, as he sat in the chair. "Are your parents coming?"
"Yes, they'll be here later, they're still in bed," he chuckled. "They had a few too many drinks last night."
All eyes focused on the door after they heard a knock and the door opening, in came a nurse, smiling as she brought the babies back. "Sorry it took so long, Isabella here wasn't cooperating for us," she giggled.
Ethan looked at Harlow and chuckled. "Looks like someone will be just like their momma."
"Very funny," she mocked.
Ethan walked over to the hospital crib, grinning as he looked at the girls. He loved giving his sister crap, but after seeing the girls she and Antonio created, melted his heart. He turned and looked back and forth from Antonio to Harlow, anxiously wanting to hold them. "May I?"
"Go ahead," Antonio said as he stood. He walked over to Ethan as he picked up one of the girls and picked up the other one.
"Which one do I have here?" Ethan asked, smiling as he looked down at who he was holding.
"Gabriella." Antonio said, showing him the bracelet on her wrist.
Ethan looked at her, then over to Isabella in Antonio's arms and chuckled. "How in the hell are you going to remember who is who? They both look alike."
"We were talking about having them wear bracelets as well as having their initials embroidered into their clothes until we're able to learn who is who." Harlow said quietly, holding her stomach as she felt a sharp pain.
"Eventually, they'll show their own characteristics and we'll be able to tell who is who," Antonio said, walking over to Harlow. "Would you like to hold her?"
"Not right now, I will after Ethan is finished holding them."
Antonio gave her a surprised look and sat down. Surprised she didn't want to hold her and felt bad. He noticed she looked like she was in pain and let her be after remembering the doctor explaining it could take months to heal and to limit any heavy lifting for a while. He looked at Harlow concerned and tilted his head to the side. "Are you sure you don't want me to hire a nanny?"
"No, I don't want a damn nanny. I already told you, they're my children and I don't need anyone helping me. If anything, my mom will be around to help," she snapped. She hated snapping at him like that, but was getting tired of him bringing up a nanny. She rolled her head back into the pillow and closed her eyes.
