That evening, Troy's father had invited Grace's family to his house for dinner. Grace sat in the middle of Sam and Luke as her father talked with Jack Bolton. Both men were both interested in the talk of sports and basketball. Her mother was speaking with Lucille Bolton, Troy's mother. Both women worked with each other in the dress shop that her mother had designed in the town they were in. Grace cleared her throat and said to her parents, "Um, Mum? Dad? May I be excused?" Katherine smiled and replied to her daughter, "Of course, you may, dear."
Troy watched as Grace walked out of the dining room then went into the backyard. He turned to his mother and said to her, "May I be excused as well, Mom?" Lucille smiled at her son and replied, "Yes, you may. Just don't play basketball while we have guests. You and your father spend enough time as it is on basketball." Troy just gave his mother a smile then went after Grace. He found Grace sitting on the swing set he used to play with as a kid and sat down next to her on another swing. He looked at her and said to her, "Why did you run off when we finished singing in the auditorium, Gracie? I thought you sounded amazing."
Grace continued to look down at the ground before she finally looked up, with a tear rolling down her cheek. Grace replied, "It's been a long time since I last sung, Troy. It was a traumatic experience for me." Troy gently wiped the tear away and said to her, curious, "What happened?" Grace took a deep breath and replied, "When I was nine, the day of Princess Diana's funeral, Queen Elizabeth asked me to sing for the funeral.......in front of thousands of people. I thought I could do it but when I realized the person I was singing for was dead, I felt trapped. My heart stopped and I passed out. After that, I couldn't find myself to sing. My mother was Prince Charles' sister, the Queen's daughter." Troy felt shocked and he said, "You are the Queen's granddaughter? And that would make......" Grace finished the sentence for him, "My brothers the Queen's grandsons. My grandmother appointed my father to be her bodyguard because she trusted him. Even though he was an American, she trusted him because my mother loved him."
Troy placed his hand on his forehead, he was friends with the Princess of England! Grace began to stand and said, "I understand if you don't want to be friends anymore....." Troy stood up and replied, "No, I want to be friends with you but I'm just shocked that you didn't want tell me this before." Grace said, "Believe me, Troy. I wanted to but I just didn't know how." Troy smiled and said, trying to make the conversation happy, "So, you're cousins with Prince William and Prince Harry? What's that like?" Grace chuckled and replied, "Yes, it's a little insane, really. Will is just like my older brothers, who is like a brother. He's a little overprotective but he is sweet. Harry is always the joker and prankster. We would always prank our family members and our grandmother's staff." Troy smiled and said, "You know, I think you and I are going to be the best of friends."
