(Told from Loki's point of view)
"Wake up."
This time, I was the one shaking Harry awake. His eyes immediately snapped open. "What's going on?"
"Get out of bed. We have thirty minutes until the second task begins." I say calmly. "Also, that was the dumbest decision you have ever made."
"I—" Harry got out of bed. "What decision?"
"Trusting me." I smirk. "Haven't you been told not to trust a god of mischief?"
He just seemed to realize what I was talking about. "No. You didn't—"
"I didn't. Lucky for you." I say. "I didn't betray you."
He looks at the ground, and then at me. I was wearing a waterproof shirt and jacket, along with sweatpants and sneakers. "Well, what is it?"
"Come with me, hurry up, you've got to get ready." I say. "The task starts in twenty-five minutes."
Harry shakes his head and gets dressed into his clothes. I give him a breakfast bar as we walk down to the lake.
"What do you have for me?" Harry asked as he stuffed the breakfast bar into his mouth. I pulled out the Gillyweed.
"This. Eat it before you go into the water, it'll turn you into a human fish for the next hour." I say, placing it into his hand. "Keep your wits about yourself. You'll do great."
He finishes the bar and looks at the Gillyweed. "Why are you doing this for me?"
"The niceties of life are complex." I say. He looks at me strangely. "It's a weird way to say 'I dunno.'"
We're the last ones to reach the lake. I immediately take my jacket and sneakers off, and stand in between Harry and Krum. I hear Ludo Bagman shout "THREE! TWO... ONE..." and the whistle blows.
Taking a single glance at Harry as he takes off his sneakers at light speed, I roll back my shoulders and dive into the lake, turning into an eel.
I didn't spend any time dawdling. I used my fins to run through the water as fast as I possibly could. I could barely see, and I spent much too long changing into different animals to see which ones could see better.
I didn't spend a lot of time fighting Grindylows and whatnot, which is what I saw Harry fighting off a lot. Good thing he found out how to work the Gillyweed.
Heh. "Work the Gillyweed." He needed to eat it, there's not much to it.
I was swimming around as a small shark, when I started to hear the same Mermaid song that I had listened to in the egg.
"Come seek us where our voices sound..."
I swam closer to the voices.
"We cannot sing above the ground..."
The algae and weeds began to clear as I start to make out a large structure.
"And while you're searching ponder this..."
The structure came into full view. I could see many mermaids and mermen gliding elegantly around the structure, where five people were tied to the top and bottom.
"We've taken what you'll sorely miss..."
Hermione was the second in line, right after Cho Chang. I went straight to her, turning back into myself. I conjured a knife and set the tip to her rope, but the mermaid song stopped immediately. Instead, it turns to snarls, and one of the mermen grabs my shoulder and pulls me away from Hermione.
"ONLY YOURS." he hisses angrily. I wasn't sure what he meant. I look around at the other people tied to the structure. The order went; Cho Chang, Hermione Granger, a very pretty girl with whitish-blond hair I didn't recognize, Ron Weasley, and an older boy with long, blond hair that I didn't--
