The crowded night in the waking city,
made her miss the home she once had.
The street lights, the polluted noises
made her wish for the silence of the trees.
Homesick and walking down the car-filled street,
She yearned for the comfort of her muddy lanes. The setting sun in brilliant dusk,
made her long for the lake behind her home.
The air that blanketed her in the twilight,
made her wish for the breeze that calmed her.
As the evening lit up,She wanted to see the oil lamps
that her mother used to light. The mid-day sun with a scorching heat,
made her miss her mango trees.
As the sun stayed above her head,
a smile from a passerby.
Her insides cooled and she started melting. The rising sun in between the skyscrapers
made her smile as she woke up
The sounds of the city arose in her
the courage to dream.
Like the slow coiling of the ivy,
the city entangled her heart.
