Burned out (A leico fanfic)

Chapter Eight

        Leo's POV

         Leo had received a letter that morning. It had said to meet up at the lodge. He had no idea what it was about, but he guessed it wasn't good. His prediction proved correct when he saw Hazel standing on the steps with her arms crossed. Oh great, It's seven in the morning, and I'm already getting a death stare. Looks like I'm going to go around Miss Medusa. Leo thought, turning around to try and go in through the back.

        "Don't even think about it Valdez. That jewfro is unmistakable." Hazel said, a smirk on her face. Normally I would just laugh it off, but I have a feeling she did something to Nico. Leo thought, gritting his teeth.

        "No need to get all hot and bothered, Leo." Hazel said, and Leo looked down to see his hands on fire, again. I really need to stop doing that. Leo thought, putting it out. He glared at Hazel.

        "What do you want?" He asked, for once his tone dead serious. Hazel seemed taken aback. Leo was always making jokes, especially when things got bad. That's right Hazel, I can be just as much of a hard ass as you. Leo thought, not breaking eye contact.

        "What I want is your faggot self away from my little brother. Are we clear?" Hazel said, narrowing her eyes into her signature stare. Looks like Hazel's Bitch Mode is activated. Leo thought, looking away. Leo had always respected Hazel. She was a good fighter, and her past had been a complete shit storm. Having her call him a fag hurt more than he thought it would. Before he could respond, they heard the sound of a horse galloping. Chiron stopped right in front of the two.

        "I see you two have already started without me." Chiron said, feeling the tension in the air. With Hazel's stare off of him for a moment, Leo felt he could breath again. Even though Hazel is acting like a total bitch, she is Nico's only mortal family. I want her to approve of me. Leo thought,and instantly felt ashamed.

        "What is this about?" Leo asked. Chirion took a deep breath before answering.

        "Hazel made a complaint. She said you were turning Nico into and I'm quoting her here "a little faggot", and that I needed to address this right away. I agree with her on that." Leo could here his heart beat in his ears. Shit, what am I going to do? I have no family, no friends outside of this place..." Leo thought, almost hitting the panic button.

        "Leo, would you please wait to hit the panic button until I'm finished. I agree this should be address, because we have no tolerance for offensive behavior, Hazel." Chirion said. Dear gods, what am I going to do, wait what. Leo thought, the words finally sinking in. Meanwhile, Hazel stood there with her mouth open. Leo couldn't stop a smile from spreading across his face. 

        "Passed on what I overheard you two arguing about, I am going to need to see Ms. Levesque in my office for a little chat. Mr. Valdez, you are free to go." Chirion said, walking up the steps, and into the lodge. For a second, Hazel looked like she might cry, but then the warrior mask came went back on. For a second there she seemed almost human. I guess that means there is hope after all. Leo thought, as Hazel marched up the stairs. He stared up at the sky for a moment. "Thanks guys." He whispered, before walked down towards the beach.

Nico's POV

        Nico gazed out over the water. For some reason, Nico found himself drawn to the crashing waves whenever he was upset. Perhaps it was because it remind him of Percy. Nico didn't think that was it though. The more he thought about the feelings he had for Percy, he realized that they  had been more or less Puppy Love. He had idolized him, and had been upset when he had not lived up to his expectations. Where with Leo, Nico had gotten to know what was beneath the jokes and laughter. He couldn't help, but think of how tightly Leo had held him yesterday. Even though he had refused to tell Leo what was wrong, Leo still held him. Nico stood up, and shook his head. I can't think about him anymore, it will just make it worse. Nico thought, shouldering his backpack. He had decided to head to the underworld last night. He figured it was the only way Hazel would ever accept him. Nico did not want to lose anymore family. He looked back at the camp, and saw a figure with curly hair walking down the beach. Leo had a big smile on him face, and was waving at him enthusiastically. Nico waved half-heartily back. This is going to be harder than I thought. Nico thought, seeing Leo practically tripping over his own feet trying to reach Nico as soon as possible. Leo was running too fast, that when he reached Nico he didn't have enough time to slow down. He plowed into Nico, and Leo ended up on top of Nico.

        "Nico, I'm sorry I thought I just have something I have to tell you." Leo said, his breath ragged from running. Nico just layed there blushing, and Leo was too excited to be embarrassed. Dammit why does he have to be so adorable. Nico thought, looking up at Leo's smiling face.

        "Chirion is talking to your sister. If anyone can teach someone about tolerance, it is someone as wise as Chirion." Leo said, and Nico looked up at him wide eyed. Hazel's pretty stubborn, but tolerance is possible. Nico thought, and Leo started getting up his cheeks pink. Nico sat up, and shook his head to get the sand out of his  hair. Nico felt Leo's warm fingers graze his cheek.

        "There was some sand." Leo said, but both boys knew it was an excuse. After all, Leo's fingers were still on Nico's cheek. Nico tried to turn away, but Leo brought his other hand up Nico's other cheek.

        "Look at me, Nico. I...really like you." Leo said, before leaning in and placing his lips onto Nico's.

I'm so sorry, it took me so long to update this. I had writer's block, and it was like Hazel in this story, a bitch. I think this is going to be the last chapter, but I don't know. Tell me what you think in the comments. Thanks for reading, and fangirl on.
